- Click Add a Widget
- Select RSS
- Enter the RSS feed URL here
- Give the feed a title (optional) to display on the site
- Choose How many items would you like to display?
- Check Display item content if desired
- Check Display item author if available if desired
- Check Display item date if desired
- Select Publish once satisfied with the results
Congratulations. You now know how to add RSS feed widgets.

Is it possible to have an external RSS feed styled like an internal blog? I’ve just started a newsletter, which I’m publishing on Buttondown. The RSS feed widget doesn’t allow for things like 2 columns, like the Blog widget does.

Hi Peter!
Yes, it’s possible to display an external RSS feed with a plugin like RSS Aggregator. You can display your external feeds in a styled format similar to your internal blog posts! By using plugins and custom widgets, you can pull in the feed and style it to match your blog’s layout, including options like two columns, thumbnails, excerpts, and more.
Hugh says:
How do I find the RSS feed URL? Is it just the page URL?
Jesse says:
Hi Hugh-
The primary feed for your site has a permalink at
example.com/feed/
, but there are a lot of different feeds you can choose from, like comments, categories and tags, and more. Check out this article on WordPress.org with a detailed list of the available feeds.
