How to Add New and Custom Blocks
WordPress Page Builder
Blocks Explained
Blocks are preformatted chunks of content you can add to new or existing pages on your WordPress website, and are contained within the Page Builder. Completely unique to the BoldGrid platform, these pre-built page sections consist of various layouts of rows and columns, pre-populated with content, and easily managed either visually or with HTML and CSS. Simply drag and drop new sections of content via a Block onto your pages or posts, resize and edit, and save valuable time.
Adding a New Pre-Built Block Page
When creating a new page, you see Block options immediately after clicking ‘Add New Page’ from the lefthand sidebar menu. You can choose from a wide variety of pre-built pages designed using Blocks and tailored to fit the theme of your site. Example pages include: programs, news, resources, staff, services, testimonials, and more. Each option offers a preview before selecting. Of course, you can also edit the content in the Blocks to make them your own.Adding Blocks to a Blank Page
If you would prefer to start with a completely blank slate, then get creative, just start with a new, blank page instead of choosing a pre-built design. Above the toolbar, you will find a button labeled “Add Block” (next to the “Add Media” button). Clicking it will take you to the page you see below for editing. On the left side you will see a blank page. On the right, you will see a large selection of Blocks from which to choose. In fact, there are so many that you may want to use the Block Categories filter at the top of the column to find the perfect one for your project. Now you can experiment with Blocks. Try adding removing them from the page on the left to see how they look. To add a Block to your page, just hover over the one you like and click “Add to Page.” After choosing a few to your page, you can drag them up and down to see which layout you prefer. You can zoom in to see how the page would look filling out a display screen, or zoom out to see the whole design. Once satisfied with the layout of the page you just created using Blocks, exit out of this view to start making customizations to the content. How to Re-Use Custom Blocks
Now that you know how to build a custom page using Blocks, perhaps you really like the design and want to reuse it. Whether you would like to reuse that page’s entire design or just a portion of it, you can do so using Blocks. How? Just click on the “Text” tab, and then either copy all of the code from that page or just the customized Block section(s) you need. Then create a new page or post, select the “Text” tab, and paste the code. When you click back on the “Visual” tab, you will see the page or Block you just pasted from your first page. Now, you can edit the content on this new page without affecting the layout or content of the previous page you copied.Using Blocks, you can build a custom website just the way you want it, and at a faster pace, with the BoldGrid Page Builder.
