    Hi There,

I noticed that my website hadn’t been backed up for a long time. I had changed the Total Upkeep settings quite a while ago to backup to Google Drive. It had worked for a long time.

When I noticed today it hadn’t been backing up, I checked the settings – somehow the Google Drive hadn’t been checked.

So I re-checked and configured it, but it keeps will not back up to Drive, it keeps trying to back up to previous server backup settings.

I contacted my host and they removed the configuration that lets it save to the server.

I tried deleting settings and re-configuring settings and still nothing.

    Please advise.

    Hello,

Thanks for reaching out with your Total Upkeep questions! It sounds like you may need to reconfigure and authorize Google Drive in your Total Upkeep settings. You can follow this guide to learn how to do just that.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if there’s anything else that we can answer for you.

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to our support team. It sounds like you might have some sort of caching that might be causing an issue with the checkbox. If you hard refresh or log out and back into WordPress does it show that it isn’t authorized?

For reference to remove the settings you can do the following:

Navigate to Total Upkeep > Settings > Backup Storage and click on Update next to Google Drive. Then, click on the Delete Settings button, and close out of the pop-up menu.

Once you’ve deleted your settings, you’ll see the Authorize link reappear, where you’ll be able to reauthenticate with Google Drive.

Here there, I’ve tried this repeatedly.

When I press delete settings, it says settings deleted. Then when I close the window, Google Drive is checked and it says authorized and configured.

So I can’t reauthorize it, as it didn’t really delete the settings.

    Hi There,

I’ve logged out of wordpress and tried again. This time, it took the check mark off. It still says authorized, but not configured.

I’ve tried logging out again and clearing my browser cache, and even took Total Upkeep app off of Drive (not sure if that was a mistake).

As it is, it says authorized, but not configured with the message “Unable to get backup folder “BoldGrid Backup” (with a parent id of “”). Error 401: Invalid Credentials.”

    Because it’s still authorized, I can’t re-authorize it.

    Hello Afua,

Thank you for reaching out to our support team.

It definitely sounds like you might have your WordPress admin cached preventing the changes to reflect when you make them.

If you can click the “Delete Settings” option and then log out of WordPress and back in. Does the settings show as removed?

    Thanks
    Elana D.

I’ve done what you suggested. I was pleased when I logged in and it let me re-authorize google drive from the start. However, when I did a test backup, it unchecked Google Drive and rechecked the Web Server and FTP selections. And a backup did not end up on the Drive.

There sounds like you might have your WordPress admin cached causing you to have miss-matched configurations. You might need to try and remove the caching on the admin and try to change the settings again.

I’m not sure what caching program you are using but you could try to make the change and clear your caching on WordPress and see if that helps with keeping the settings. It could be your server is set up for caching and configured to cache your admin pages. You might need to reach out to your hosting provider to see if they can prevent the WordPress admin from being cached.

    Thanks
