I can’t get menus I want to be the “children” to drop down from the menu I want to be the “parent” although they appear indented properly, it’s as if the boldgrid is taking the changes but not applying them correctly.s

February 26, 2019 at 4:45 pm #29825JetCaptainGuestI’m using WP 4.8.8 and the Venetian theme at InMotion….
February 26, 2019 at 4:50 pm #29826JetCaptainGuestBasically, I followed the BoldGrid steps: I opened Customize, picked on menu, picked on Primary which pulled up the menus for the individual pages, used a couple existing pages and added two new pages (all published and showing), and nested the four menus beneath the menu I wanted to be the parent, putting the four “children” in order by drag-and-drop, and indenting them slightly beneath the parent page exactly as the instruction said/showed. Then I saved that menu set-up & exited. While BoldGrid took the changes as I expected, nothing changed. I then repeated the process many times, each to no avail. According to both BoldGrid & InMotion instructions, my desired changes to create the drop down menus were done correctly.
February 26, 2019 at 4:54 pm #29827JetCaptainGuestIt is as if BoldGrid is taking the changes (like allowing you to indent the children menus beneath the parent menu) but is not making the actual change (I’m guessing it should be creating a CSS change behind the scenes on the head page of this theme???). InMotion of course passed the buck, twice, and said it was a BoldGrid issue, not InMotion’s.
February 26, 2019 at 5:02 pm #29828JetCaptainGuestThere is one more thing I saw which may be of some help to you figuring this issue out. Under All Pages in the site’s dashboard, I pick on two of the pages I wanted to be in the children menu group of four, one already up and running for quite a while (almost a year) and one that was brand new when I did this, and basically I tried to change the “Page Attributes” on the right hand margin, which was a drop down box for a parent page, and I picked on the menu page I wanted them to drop down from. While I saw that it added that parent page into the website addresses for the two children pages, it did absolutely nothing else. Which again feels as though I was trying to make menus by using a instruction set when in reality, there was “nothing there” to make it actually happened. The whole thing was futile each and every attempt….
I don’t know if all of this will be of help sorting it out, but I hope so. I have too many pages with more to add and really need to be able to use drop down menus. Thanks for your efforts to solve this situation!
February 26, 2019 at 5:43 pm #29829christophermGuestI was still unable to replicate the issue in the Venetian. However, I have WordPress 5.0 in my test environment at the moment. So I would suggest updating your WordPress installation as your first move. If that doesn’t work, I’d consider submitting a support request to BoldGrid from your BoldGrid Central account > Manage My Account > Support Request (if you’re a premium member).
February 26, 2019 at 11:11 pm #29830JetCaptainGuestThere is an update available to 5.1 in my dashboard. Can I update the website without disturbing anything? I’ve never done an update before…
February 27, 2019 at 10:55 am #29831arnelcGuestThe update will not affect your website content. Always make a backup before making changes to your installation to give yourself insurance in the event that something unforeseen happens. I hope that helps to answer your question! If you require further assistance please let us know!
