I’d like my category pages use the Post List widget, or at least look the same as the Post List Widget.
April 29, 2020 at 9:19 am #30932supportGuestThank you for your question.
Unfortunately there isn’t a way to design the category archive pages with block components, but one thing you could try doing is creating your our static page designed with the Post List widget and redirect the URL for the category archive to it.

April 29, 2020 at 10:20 pm #30933chilledbeeGuestHi, I was wondering is this a better method than a plugin? I figure it might because plugins take resources and a page doesn’t but OTOH a lot of lit I read says a good website should put everything on one page. Rather confusing. Thanks for your thoughts here. Sue
April 30, 2020 at 12:35 pm #30934akGuestThanks, I was able to achieve the effect I wanted by manually recreating the output of the component in a category.php template.
It might be worth considering the ability to use block components to design templates for pages such as categories, 404s, etc for future feature development, as it would be massively useful.

May 1, 2020 at 12:21 pm #30935supportGuestHi Sue, thank you for your question!
Putting all of your website content on a single page is definitely a great way of giving your users immediate access to all of your website information, but as the amount of content on your website increase you might find that it is difficult to put everything into a single page and allow users to find the information they need quickly. Spreading your content across multiple pages break everything into more manageable chunks and could increase the overall usability.
Installing additional plugins will certainly use up more resources than a baseline WordPress installation, but you usually don’t see any major decreases in overall performance by having a few extra plugins installed.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions!
May 1, 2020 at 12:32 pm #30936supportGuestHi ak, I am glad to hear that you were able to get that working! Customizing the 404 and dynamic archive pages is definitely something that we want to incorporate into our themes and thank you for the feature idea. Please let us know if you have any additional questions in the future, we are always happy to help!
