Hello,
Since the most recent update for GeneratePress, the background images for the section do no appear in the frontend of the site. I read a thread last year that you used to fix this issue by adding additional CSS but it does not seem to work.
I am able to see the pictures in the editor but once I go online, I just have a black background instead of picture. My website is this >> https://www.malicksarr.com and I am using BoldGrid as page editor and GeneratePress as Theme.

I took a look at the markup on the home page of your website and it appears that somehow the inline style rules that set the correct background image for that first section were stripped from it following the update.
When a background image is configured for a section an inline CSS style rule is added to the Section element that tells the browser to use a particular image for the background. I installed the latest version of GeneratePress in a testing environment and was able to configure a Section background image with it, so you might be able to get the background image displaying properly again by resetting the values in the page editor.
Open up the Visual editor for your Home page and use the background option on that first section to configure a different image to use for the background. Once the new image is set Update the page to ensure that the newest settings are used. Then change the background image back to the original selection and Update again.
Hopefully that helps you get your background images working as expected and please let us know if there is anything else that we can do to help!

Thank you for your prompt reply. I followed your recommendations and it appears that I still have the same issue. But I think I managed to find the cause.
So, applying your recommendation, the background does work. However, the problem occurs again when I add an overlay to the background picture (Change Background > Settings > Change Overlay). Since all my section’s background pictures have a dark overlay (for readability), all of the pictures appear to be missing. But, if I remove the overlay, they appear again. Is there a way around this?
Thank you in advance.

I am not entirely sure why adding the overlay to your background images is preventing them from displaying as expected. I attempted to replicate this behavior in my testing environment and so far I have been unsuccessful in recreating the issue, background images with an overlay seem to working fine for me.
I wonder if the problem is somehow related to the minification settings in your website’s caching configuration. Could you try temporarily disabling minification in your cache settings to see if that allows the overlays to start working?
July 19, 2021 at 3:35 pm #40688Malick SarrGuestHm.. strange. I disable minification, and still nothing has changed. I noticed as well that the id bg-box doest have a background as well. The only way I can get a section bg picture to work is when I disable overlay.

This is certainly a strange situation and right now I am not entirely sure where the source of the conflict is coming from.
Since you’re a DreamHost customer, and therefore a BoldGrid Premium customer, I recommend submitting a premium support ticket so our team can take a more hands-on approach to troubleshooting.
The easiest way to submit a premium ticket is directly from your main WordPress Dashboard page, using the BoldGrid Feedback widget. Alternatively, you can submit one in your BoldGrid Central Account.
Thank you for your understanding Malick and I hope that our Premium team will be able to get this sorted out soon!
