I have been utilizing the Used block feature to post the same block on different pages of the web site. It recently disappeared from the list of blocks when using the Add Block editor. How do I restore this feature?

    Hi Linden,

Thanks for reaching out with your BoldGrid Post and Page Builder although I’m sorry to hear you’ve lost a used block in your “Add Block” section.

You mentioned you frequently use the block that was lost. It’s possible you could recover it by finding the block on a page or post where it was used and then saving the content to your block library. After doing so you can select the block from the block library to reuse in your pages and posts.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions for us!

I know about and use the save block feature. What I was talking about was the “Used” had been an available choice from the pull down menu and it has now seemingly disappeared. This “Used” menu choice was easier and faster to use and I miss it.

    Thanks Linden,

I do understand, I was a fan of the Used Blocks option as well but it was removed due to user complaining that the functionality was too confusing. I will document this because I feel if we have enough contacts with similar concerns our developers can be persuaded to re-implement the feature.

    Thanks for understanding!

I used the used blocks feature exclusively because of the way it is easy to pull up an example of what I did and just replace text and pics.
My site is not complex, but I really do not want to have to rebuild my page each time.

Is this going to save the base block only or will it save the block as I have modified it? I do not want to have to rebuild my page from scratch, plus I do not remember which block I used.
Is there a way to favorite a block I have already used and modified?

    Hi Mitch,

Using the “Block Library is very similar to the “Used Blocks” option. You can easily save any block library and use it throughout your content in the same way as the “Used Block” option. The only difference is you’ll have to remember to save the blocks you wish to reuse into your block library.

You can favorite a block by hovering over it and clicking the “heart icon that appears and after that you can select in from the “Add Block > Block Library” section of your Post and Page Builder.

It sounds like I will still have to build the blocks that I use again from scratch because there is no way to save or favorite a block I have already made. In other words, I cannot favorite a block that I made prior to the update.
It sounds like I can only favorite the base unaltered block.
I will also have to try and find the base block I used as they are not labeled in any way I can see so I can look to see what block I used.
It would be helpful if I could favorite a block on the left side of the page instead of the right.

    Hi Mitch,

You should be able to “favorite” your previously created blocks as well. One thing you can do if this isn’t working for you is switch to the “Text” editor in your page builder and copy the HTML of the block you would like to save, then select the option to “Add New Block” from your WordPress DashBoard Post and Page Builder > Add New Block and switch to the “Text” editor of your “New Block” and add your HTML there.

You ‘ll be able to give your block and title and save it to reuse in your content.

Thanks for the copy and paste idea as for whatever reason, I still cannot favorite a used block. However one other question. Will that mess up my Google analytics by copying and pasting the entire page?

    You’re most definitely welcome Mitch,

We’ll take a look at the “Favorite block” option and see if we can tell what’s going on. Copying over your content into a block will not effect our Google Analytics. Each page has its own meta data and you can also set your no-index so that they won’t be crawled by search engines.
