In the Add Block library, I end up trying to find a needle in a haystack–that is, trying to find what I’m actually looking for in a library that is unwieldy because I can’t narrow my search to what I’m looking for.
I do see drop-downs for “Categories” and “Types.” But the Categories doesn’t help me because my website has nothing to do with any of the listed categories. So I’d like to browse them all, but I see no “All Categories” option.
For the Types, again there is no block type for what I’m looking for (e.g., Buttons). In this case though, I can find blocks that could probably be used for my purposes with some modification. The problem is that once I find one somewhat like what I’m looking for, I want to see more of that type. But I see no way to know what the name of that type is. If I could find out what type it is, I could filter for just that type.
Any suggestions?

Probably the best block type if you’re looking for a “button” block is the “Welcome” type, which is full of call-to-action style blocks you’d typically want to put at the top of a page. The “About” type also includes a lot of blocks with a button.
The “Categories” aren’t going to really change what you see, it only changes the stock photos that would come with a given block.
I agree with you that there should be an easier way to figure out which type of block you’re looking at while browsing the “All Types” list, so I’ve gone ahead and filed a feature request for our developers to add a feature like this.

September 1, 2020 at 12:36 pm #26282AlanGuestI’ve got a couple of new questions about the block library.
1. Adding a block to the library is easy-peasy, but how do I delete one?
2. The instructions say to name the block–which seems like a splendid idea–but then where do I see the names of them when I’m looking for one? If I have two very similar blocks, it might be hard to tell which one I want without knowing the name of each.September 1, 2020 at 1:15 pm #26291Jesse OwensKeymasterHi Alan-
In order to delete a saved block, you can navigate to Post and Page Builder > Block Library, which looks similar to your “All Posts” or “All Pages” screen. From here, you can hover over a saved block and click Trash.
For your second question, you’re right that there isn’t an easy way to see the title of your saved blocks when you’re adding one into a page. I’ve filed another feature request for this.
We really appreciate your feedback improving the interface, please keep letting us know when you see anything else that would improve your workflow!
