    Dear BoldGrid support,

When we recently tried to edit a page at one of our Boldgrid sites, it seems like it’s not using the Boldgrid editor at all, even though we built the site using Boldgrid.

For example, when I’m at a normal Boldgrid site, on the Edit page it usually shows the Boldgrid logo in the upper left; and also in the upper right it says: Editor: Post and Page Builder (which is the Boldgrid product) … like here:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/h8lpx80tnkbcgtz/Screen%20Shot%202021-02-20%20at%207.29.18%20PM.png?dl=0

But none of those things show at the site where the issue exists:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/h8lpx80tnkbcgtz/Screen%20Shot%202021-02-20%20at%207.29.18%20PM.png?dl=0

When I go back to the “All Pages” view, this message shows at the top of the screen:

This theme recommends the following plugin: Post and Page Builder … as you can see here

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/kz89bv8vueh3i6o/Screen%20Shot%202021-02-20%20at%207.32.32%20PM.png?dl=0

Below that message, I clicked the text link to install the plugin. Then it asked me to first do a backup, which I did:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/1rwood42ucgfy4l/Screen%20Shot%202021-02-20%20at%207.34.15%20PM.png?dl=0

Then a screen came up with an text link for Install, which I clicked. Then I got this error message:

    Downloading installation package from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/post-and-page-builder.zip…

    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the plugin…

    Destination folder already exists. /home/fortheearth/climateresponsibility.net/wp-content/plugins/post-and-page-builder/

    Plugin installation failed.

    TGMPA v2.6.1

    Return to Required Plugins Installer

    —-

That indicates that the plugin already is there, and thus it can’t install it again.

Next, in the left menu, I clicked the Plugin Editor tab simply to take a look (and not make any changes). Once there, I selected the Post and Page Builder premium plugin and it shows this:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/raedfcc580q130u/Screen%20Shot%202021-02-20%20at%207.40.56%20PM.png?dl=0

Please notice that at the end of this, it says “active” –

    Editing post-and-page-builder-premium/post-and-page-builder-premium.php (active)

… so not only is the plugin already there, but it appears to be active.

Yet the All Pages screen says we should add the plugin … plus the Edit page doesn’t show the plugin. Please explain to me what steps I should do to fix this issue.

    Thanks

    Hello Peter,

Sorry to hear you are having issues getting the Post and Page Builder to install on your site. From the screenshots you sent it looks like the Post and Page Builder Premium plugin is active, but perhaps not the base plugin. If you view your list of plugins does the Post and Page Builder appear? There should be 2 – one for the base free plugin and one for Premium.

We recommend you download the plugin directly from wordpress.org – https://wordpress.org/plugins/post-and-page-builder/ – and upload to your installation since the auto installer doesn’t seem to be working.

Please let me know if this solves the issue or if we need to troubleshoot further.

    Thanks,
    Nicole

    Hi Nicole,
Thanks for your response! I checked our list of plugins and it only shows the Premium Post and Page Builder. When I try to install the Post and Page Builder through the “new plugin” option, I have the same issue Peter described above. I’m not sure how to install it directly from WordPress, or how to do it manually- could you please help with how to do that?

Also, I’m not the admin for this page- will these changes need to be made with an admin account?

    Thank you!

    Hi Amanda!

It sounds like the baseline Post and Page Builder plugin files are currently installed on your web server, but for whatever reason they are not being detected properly by your WordPress installation.

One thing you can try is using your server’s File Manager or a File Manager plugin in the WordPress dashboard to view the contents of your website’s plugins folder. You can locate the plugins folder by first viewing the WordPress root directory and then navigating to wp-content > plugins. Then, if you see a folder titled post-and-page-builder, try deleting it and reinstalling the baseline Post and Page Builder. That should allow WordPress to redetect the plugin files and get things working normally again.

Hopefully that fixes the issue you guys have been seeing and please let us know how it goes!
