I’ve built my website out using your Cobalt Theme. The default theme has a black header/menu bar with white lettering. Somehow in customizing the theme for my website this area is now a grey color. I’m unable to find anywhere in the customize feature to change the background color in this area. I believe it will need custom css code. I would like the theme color of black vs. the grey. Can you please provide this coding and let me know where it should be entered so I can correct this issue.

    Hello,

Thanks for submitting a question about adjusting colors in your site. A custom CSS modification may not be necessary. Since the color was changed while you were working in the Customizer that indicates the necessary color controls are located there. All of the colors in the theme can be controlled from the Colors section of the Customizer. Check each color in your chosen palette for the one you are trying to change and most likely the active color you want to change will be there.

    Best,

    Hi Christoper,

Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately, the Colors in the Customizer didn’t work. My website essentially uses four colors. The Active Palette has six colors. There doesn’t seem to be a way to delete the two unused colors (two grey colors #e8e8e8 and #e2e2e2). The issue is with the menu areas (i.e. home, contact, etc.) – both the header and footer (i.e. social media links, etc.) is showing the grey. I believe this might have happened when I changed the color of the font for the menu. The Cobalt theme has a green and white font color, with the hover also being in green. I changed this to remove the green in the CSS coding and may have inadvertently changed the background color of the header/footer in the process. Here’s my website so you can see the issue http://www.latchkeyproductions.com

    Hi Again,

Since I replied I was able to solve the problem by moving around the order of custom color blocks. That seemed to alter the color formatting on other areas within the site but able to go in and change the colors on the individual pages. Last question on this header/menu issue: how do you change the hover color for the menu?

Changes of this nature, which are not part of the built interface requires that you modify the CSS for the area that you’re reviewing.  You can use your browser’s Inspect option to find the CSS that needs to be modified.  Check out how to use Chrome’s Inspect Element option to change CSS.
