Drop Down Menu will not work

I’m using the BoldGrid Grid One Theme. I’ve easily created a drop down menu that is positioned to the right of my header. But I can not create a drop down menu that is either above the header or the footer. The same method will not work for those menu locations. Any help would be appreciated. How I created the drop down menu to the right of the header was to simply drag and drop one menu item below the other and to the right.
