Total upkeep is conflicting with my WP mail SMTP plugin as it keeps directing the SMTP to gain access to google drive when trying to reauthorize the SMTP plugin to my gmail. This is the message I receive after I try to grant access for the SMTP plugin to my gmail and it directs me back to the total upkeep plugin page and says: “Unable to authorize Google Drive: unauthorized_client – Unauthorized” I deactivated total upkeep and then it works fine. Is there anyway to resolve this as I would prefer not to get another backup plugin?

Thanks for letting us know about this, and thanks for using Total Upkeep Premium to store your backups on Google Drive.
I tested this out, and I got the same error that you saw. I found two ways you can fix it.
First, you can simply deactivate Total Upkeep Premium, complete the SMTP authentication, and the re-enable Total Upkeep Premium. I tested this method and I was able to both send emails and upload my backups afterward.
Second, you can use WP Mail SMTP’s Other SMTP option rather than the Gmail option, and configure WP Mail SMTP with the settings of your Gmail account.

Thanks for the reply. So I actually tried the first method. I even deactivated the authorization in total upkeep to my google drive for backups but the problem still happened. I can try the other method and see what happens.

I hope that everything goes well with trying the other method Jesse recommended, but please let us know if you run into any other problems getting your authentication working as expected and our team will investigate this problem further!
May 3, 2021 at 6:43 pm #37139AntonisGuestHi guys, I also have the same problem even now that I have disconnected gdrive as a backup store method. Do you have any updates on the matter?
Thank you in advance

Did you try temporarily deactivating the Total Upkeep Premium plugin and then attempt to authorize your Gmail account with WP Mail SMTP yet? I just tested that behavior and I was able to get my Gmail authorized successfully once the plugin was deactivated. Once the initial authorization is complete you should be able to reactivate Total Upkeep Premium and get both plugins working together.
I also created a bug report for this issue with our developers to investigate this behavior further and hopefully we will be able to release a permanent fix for the problem in an upcoming release.
I hope that temporarily deactivating Total Upkeep Premium allows you to get WP Mail SMTP authorized with your Gmail Account successfully and please let us know if you have any additional questions for us!
May 10, 2021 at 4:59 pm #37526AntonisGuestHi and thanks for your reply. Yes, this method works but only temporarily. After some days it happens again and again and I have to redo the same process every some days. As a matter of that I have now completely deactivate Gdrive uploads to avoid the conflicts. Thanks for looking into it, I’m looking forward for an upcoming release that will hopefully fix the problem.
May 12, 2021 at 5:48 pm #37731AntonisGuestHey Guys.
I’m not sure if that helpls, but this happened again with gdrive even deactivated and unauthorized for backup this time. https://i.imgur.com/DOVMBNR.png
May 12, 2021 at 5:51 pm #37747Jesse OwensKeymasterHi Antonis-
Thanks for the update, I’m sorry about the continuing issues with this conflict. The developers are working on getting an update out for this bug, and we expect to have a release available soon.
Since this is actively hurting your email deliverability, I recommend keeping Total Upkeep Premium deactivated for the immediate time being until we can release the update for you. I’ll post another reply here in the thread as soon as it’s released.
