How do I create a custom backup of my local machine development environment for transfer of updated .js, .php, and .css files to my live production site?
Both “Total Upkeep” and “Total Upkeep Premium” are installed and activated on my both my local development machine and on my live production site.In my Local WP Admin Dashboard / Total Upkeep / Backups, there is an option to “Backup Site Now”.
I click Files and Folders/ Custom Backup and Database / Custom Backup.
A list of database files appears and I exclude all database files. But, in Files and Folders / Custom Backup , the “Include” box says “WPCORE,/wp-content” which I think is meant to get a list from the host production site server.
When I click “Preview” on my local site, Boldgrid reports “No files match your criteria.”My local files are in this directory tree: “C:\Users\Owner\Local Sites\allenbrook-neighbors\app\public\wp-content”
When I input this directory tree into the local Total Upkeep / Backup Site Now / Files and Folders / Custom Backup / Include box and press “Preview”, I get the same message, “No files match your criteria.”How do I get a local custom backup from my development environment for migration to my production site?

Thanks for reaching out with your Total Upkeep questions! The “Files & Folders” preview option display is actually an error. Rest assured your files are there this issue will be addressed in an upcoming patch for Total Upkeep.
As far as backing up and transferring your local installation to hosted environment the best option is to backup your website using the backup option you mentioned and then restore the site to the new WordPress instance using a magic link.
You do have other options to migrate a site as well such as manually restoring your Total Upkeep backup and restoring the backup using the WordPress CLI.
I hope this helps Bobby, please let us know if you have any other questions for us!

Let me rephrase my question.
I am not restoring to a new wordpress instance.I am updating the existing, hosted wordpress instance with the work I have done to program code here on my local machine.
My question is how do I use Total Upkeep to transfer just the numerous .php..js and .css program code changes from my development directory on my local drive up to my live hosted site WITHOUT sending the wordpress database and other massive directories that never change. I do NOT want to overwrite the database on my existing site.
Using Total upkeep, how do I select the files that need to be sent to the live install?
Thanks for answering!

The approach to creating a custom backup is very similar to taking a full backup. Once you click the blue backup button scroll down to the Database Section, select Custom Backup and deselect any tables you do not wish to include in your Backup.
You can also take a backup of files and folders only and exclude the database tables altogether. This guide should help explain all this a little better.
Please let us know if we can assist you further with this Bobby!
