I’ve installed BoldGrid as part of the WP installation on A2 Hosting. I’ve tried suggestions that have been reported in other threads (turned off ModSecurity, uninstalled other plugins, made sure the Inspiration files have been installed, etc.). It’m still getting the “There was an error fetching categories. Please try again in a few minutes.” error message.
What else can I do to get it to work?
Thanks!
June 29, 2018 at 12:36 pm #22373Arnel CMemberHello,
Sorry for the problem with getting the Inspirations listed due to the categories error. I checked it recently, and the problem should be okay. There may have been an issue with the server, but I checked it on a test installation and the categories are loading at this point. If the problem recurs, please provide us the domain for your account and we can look into it further.
June 29, 2018 at 6:29 pm #22372Anonymous UserMemberHi Arnel,
This has been going on for a few days. I don’t think it’s a server issues but probably a WP configuration and/or BoldGrid installation on A2 Hosting via Softaculous.
Are there any logs? Do you have any suggestion for what it could and where I should look into?
Thanks!
July 2, 2018 at 12:53 pm #22371KyleMemberHello,
Your logs would be your PHP and web server error logs, You would need to ask your host where the logs are located for their platform. If you are still getting the error I would recommend replacing the core files for WordPress and your plugins and ensuring the database is not corrupted.
Best Regards,

August 19, 2018 at 4:55 pm #22370Anonymous UserMemberMy hosting team was kind enough to dig into this pesky error. They claim this is due to MultiSite being installed and that Bold Grid is not compatible. The instructions to revert tot he Single Site option are lengthy and detailed. Might there be a Bold Grid solution on the way to work with MultiSite? MultiSite was installed by error but of course allows 1 or more sites.
November 6, 2020 at 10:24 am #31084DyaneGuestI have had this problem on many days and with another website, as well.
It has been extremely frustrating!November 6, 2020 at 10:27 am #31092Joseph WKeymasterSorry to hear about the problems fetching the categories in Inspiration, I know how frustrating it can be when something doesn’t work as expected.
One thing that might be causing a problem with Inspirations is if you are using a Multisite configuration to manage your websites. Running an Inspiration requires a number of administrator privileges that are unavailable to individual websites in multisite setups and prevent the Inspiration installation from completing. Try recreating those sites as standalone installations to see if that addresses the problem.
Hopefully switching to a single site configuration helps fix this error and please let us know if there is anything else that we can do to help!
