Hi there,
I’m wondering if or how it is possible to maintain formatting of many posts where I’ve used Boldgrid blocks but now I am exploring moving off of using BoldGrid themes because I don’t see any themes that match my current needs. I’m trying to make my website more news focused/blog focused from a front page layout but I’d like to keep the formatting for the actual blog posts I’ve made so I don’t have to redo all of them.
Let me know if this is possible.

Thanks for reaching out with your BoldGrid questions. The BoldGrid Post and Page Builder plugin that you actually use to create and save your blocks can be used with other themes.
The only issue is non-BoldGrid themes will not be 100% compatible with the page builder and you’re likely to run into scenarios where you’ll need somewhat advanced coding knowledge to sort out.
I see you’re using the Venetian theme on your site. This is one of out V-1 (legacy) themes. You may be able to capture the design you want for your site using our flagship Crio Pro WordPress super theme! Crio comes with over 400 customizable options and it’s 100% compatible with Post and Page Builder.
If you decide to go this route we’ll definitely be here to assist you ever step of the way! I hope this helps Karen.
June 14, 2023 at 11:35 am #92064KarenGuestThanks Brandon! A couple of follow ups questions:
1. Since I have BoldGrid through Dreamhost, is using Crio an additional cost? Do I pay for that through dream host or directly through Boldgrid?
2. If I don’t want to incur that additional cost yet, what’s the best way to migrate my theme? I’ve been playing around with Inspiration but it seems that 1) I need to do a back up (currently running into size issues there) and 2) my old pages/posts disappear? Can you point me to any tutorial to help me transition my venetian theme to a new boldgrid theme?
Thanks,

The Crio Pro WordPress theme is included with your DreamHost subscription. You can access the Crio theme and other premium plugin included in your account through your DreamHost dashboard or BoldGrid Central account.
We don’t have a tutorial or guide for transitioning a new theme but the main things to note would be the header and footer sections. You’ll likely have to reconfigure these sections because the controls are a bit different from that of your Venetian theme. Luckily we do have guides that can help with setting up headers and footers in your Crio theme. If you get stuck on anything we’ll be right here to help!
Thanks Karen! Let us know if we can answer anything else for you!
June 14, 2023 at 1:36 pm #92114KarenGuestHi Brandon,
Thanks for following up.
Apologies, I’m a little confused here. Is Crio available through Inspirations? Because I downloaded the Crio Theme in wordpress but it says I can “buy” Crio to upgrade for further options.
If I do go through Inspirations, what do I do about the “lost” pages and posts that Inspiration says will happen to my webpage?
Thanks,
KarenJune 14, 2023 at 1:40 pm #92144Brandon CKeymasterNo worries Karen,
Crio is available through inspirations but in your case you just need to download the Crio Premium plugin which can be found at your BoldGrid Central account under plugins. Once you install and activate the premium plugin you will gain access to all of Crio’s premium features.
You can access your BoldGrid Central account using the same credentials you would use to log in to your DreamHost Web Hosting account.
June 16, 2023 at 10:42 am #92564KarenGuestHi Brandon, thanks again for the help. I’ve successfully moved over to Crio following your steps.
I do have a follow up. Not sure if I should create a separate thread for the question. If so, just let me know. While the new theme is fine, I still want to add additional post lists/post grids for my content. Boldgrid’s options don’t seem to fit the bill so I’m tinkering with other plugins. However, many of the separate plugins use the WordPress editor and when I add those blocks in, the formatting width of those post blocks do not align with the Crio theme I’ve set. For example, the post grid from the plugin would be full page width while the Crio theme is a much more narrow column. I can’t seem to get the plugin to match the Crio theme width. Is there a work around here? If not, I think I will have to explore using themes outside of Boldgrid because the post options are not robust enough for my needs.
Thanks,

No worries, you’re perfectly fine asking your follow up questions using this thread. I’m happy the new Crio theme integrated well. As far as the Posts-List grids and layouts, most plugins use Custom Post Types to pull in their functionality, so one thing you can do is change your Custom Post Types settings to use the WordPress editor.
To do this navigate from your WordPress dashboard to Post and Page Builder > Settings and switch to the editor you would like to use based on the specific post type. This will give you full control over which Post Types will use the PPB editor.
I really hope this helps Karen, let us know if you have more questions for us!
