My site is down. I am receiving a screen message Error establishing a database connection. It seems as if it doesn’t think I have access privileges. I need assistance as soon as possible. We cannot have our site down. Please contact me immediately on this. I also have had problems last week when I could not login and it was telling me that my password was incorrect. I clicked on the link to send me access to change my password but did not receive the email. I did this several times and never received an email link. I think that there may be a breech somewhere.

I’m sorry to hear about your website being down, and I’m glad to see that it’s back up and running now.
We have a detailed guide to troubleshooting the Error establishing a database connection issue, but generally speaking there are three main causes for this error:
- The database credentials in wp-config.php are incorrect
- The MySQL service is not running
- The database has been corrupted and is in need of repair
In any of these cases, your web hosting company should be able to assist you in getting back online, or you can use your hosting panel’s tools to investigate.
