I made a rookie mistake. I worked all day constructing a site without backing it up as I was working. At the very end of the day I was making a minor change to the Home page of my Grid One theme and in pasting new copy from elsewhere into the large title I evidently changed the formatting and deleted my menu and some other formatting. I pushed the publish button before I noticed the change. The easiest repair seems to be creating a new home page from the theme but I can’t figure out how to do that. I can create a new page but it is blank and blocks can be added but it is not the original theme homepage. Am I missing something? Don’t want to have to rebuild from scratch if I don’t have to.

    Hi Mary-

I’m very sorry to hear about your lost work! There are few feelings worse than seeing your day’s work get lost.

I checked out the website you sent over, and it looks like you’ve gotten your menu fixed and it seems like everything looks like Grid One’s default settings. Are you still missing a lot of your work that’s been lost?

Aside from backing up regularly, another tactic you can use is to save your customizations as drafts. Additionally, you can sometimes recover unsaved changes if you see the notice “There is a more recent autosave of your changes than the one you are previewing. Restore the autosave
Restore autodraft and save customizations as draft
