I’m trying to update W3 Total Cache 2.6.0 to 2.6.1 but keep getting the following error:
Update failed: The update cannot be installed because some files could not be copied. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.
I tried troubleshooting but couldn’t fix it and I tried to delete it after deactivating it but wasn’t able to delete it either.
However, on my dev site I was able to delete it and reinstall the latest version with no issues. Both sites are almost identical in terms of WP version and plugins. Please advise.

Thank you for reaching out and I am happy to help!
As you can see from the notification, This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.
Please check your files/folder permissions on the server.
Please make sure the correct permissions are set:
files – 644
folders- 755This is not specifically related to the W3 Total Cache, but the server permissions.
Thanks!
