    Hello
Just wondered if th etotal upkeep plugin is compatible with the digital ocean spaces droplets — https://www.digitalocean.com/products/spaces/ . They say they are S3 compatible so I’m guessing that upkeep would work with them?

    Hello Kevin,

Thanks for reaching out about Total Upkeep being compatible with Digital Ocean Spaces. I checked with our lead developer and unfortunately at this time they cannot be used together.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,
    Nicole

    Thanks for the reply :).
Do you know if there are any plans to support it in the future?

I know this is for a different plugin that most likely works totally different ( and may not work now ) but I did come across this — https://www.spacedmonkey.com/2018/01/29/using-digital-ocean-spaces-wordpress/ . The plugin is for using S3 for madia storage but apparently you can add a filter etc and it’ll work with digital ocean spaces.

Obviously I dont know how Upkeep works etc 🙂

    Hi Kevin-

While it’s not “officially” supported right now, there is indeed a workaround you can use. Keep in mind this hasn’t been tested with Digital Ocean Spaces, but this procedure has worked with other “S3-Compatible” providers in the past.

Navigate to Total Upkeep > Settings > Backup Storage and click on the option to Configure DreamObjects. You’ll need 3 pieces of information from your storage provider, the Access Key ID, the Secret Access Key and the Hostname of you storage bucket server.

You may need to create the storage “bucket” manually and specify that name in the Bucket ID field as well, depending on the access permissions you have set up with Digital Ocean.

We do have plans to implement this feature in the future for you as well. Please do let us know if you’re able to get it to work, or if you have any issues while you’re setting it up, I’d be very interested to hear if this works for Digital Ocean as well.

    Hello
thanks for taking the time to reply and give me some pointers. It was this reply that encouraged me to purchase the paid for version.
I have gone with DreamHosts purely because Digital Ocean isnt that user friendly for me.

    Hi Kevin-

I’m glad to hear it! DreamObjects by DreamHost is a really user-friendly way to get your offsite backup storage reliably working, and it’s good to hear that you chose to go with that. Please let us know if you have any more questions, we’re happy to help!
