After updating the plugin I got the following error:
W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /homepages/41/d564709459/htdocs/clickandbuilds/WordPress/HP_PT/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.
I was not able to go into my dashboard so I removed advanced-cache.php. However, this did not help.
I checked .htaccess in order to delete all comments like “#BEGIN W3TC Page Cache core” and “#END W3TC Page Cache core” and tried to delete the wp-content files and folders
– cache folder
– w3tc-config folder
– advanced-cache.php
– db.php
– upgrade folder
– w3-total-cache folder in wp-content/plugins.
Anyway, some folder like
– cache folder
– upgrade folder
– w3-total-cache folder in wp-content/plugins
could not be deleted, I merely could deactivate the w3-total-cache plugin on the server.
However, now re-installing w3-total-cache fails and I get a critical problem at Site Health like:
Page cache was not detected and server response time is slow.
What can I do, please help.
Looking forward to your answer,

Thank you for reaching out and I am happy to help!
Just to confirm, you were not able to remove all W3 Total Cache files from the server?
Can you please let me know what happened when you tried to delete:
– cache folder
– upgrade folder
– w3-total-cache folder in wp-content/pluginsYou should make sure that all mentioned files are deleted to ensure that the W3 Total Cache is completely removed from the server, and then re-install the plugin in the plugin section.
Please let me know if this helps!October 5, 2023 at 12:41 pm #107713Gernot FreyGuestHello Marko,
Thanks for helping me!
When I tried to delete:
– cache folder => failure: permission denied
– upgrade folder => could be deleted
– w3-total-cache folder in wp-content/plugins => failure: permission denied
When I tried to re-install the plugin in the plugin section I got the information:
Installation failed: The destination folder already exists.
That’s it, I do not know what to do further…October 6, 2023 at 11:48 am #108032Gernot FreyGuestSorry, I’ve unsubscribed by accident to this forum topic. Please keep in contact, I am waiting for your assistence.

Thank you for your feedback.
Please check your files and folder permissions on your server and make sure that these are sett as follows:
folders – 755
files – 644This will allow you to modify and delete the files.
Thanks!
