Hello Brian,
Thank you for your question about customizing “Call Today” text in your Pavilion – Real Estate layout. I was able to install this Inspiration on my staging site, and it looks like the number you refer to is not part of the Call to Action widget, but rather is part of the Right Below Primary Navigation section as a Visual Editor widget( Call to Action is also a Visual Editor, but just has a different title ).
Finally, I just wanted to mention that you will need to make sure that you have updated your WordPress, and BoldGrid extensions to the current versions to ensure the instructions I provided are the same for you.

adminMemberHello nityasri,
Thank you for your question on making making your home page the blog page. By default, BoldGrid uses a static front page. You can switch the home page to be your blog posts page from within the dashboard.
- Log into the dashboard
- Click on the Settings option
- Click on the Blog option
- In the ‘Front Page Display’ section, select the radio button named ‘Your latest posts’
- Click the “Save Changes” button

Thank you for your question on adding an external link to your BoldGrid menu. Adding an external link is quite simple. Just go to Customizer >> Menus and select the menu to which you want to add the link. Next, click on the “Add Items” button. Choose “Custom Link” and it will open up that tool. Simply enter the URL for the link and give it a name. Once you save the changes, the new link should show in your menu.

Thank you for your question about adding an image gallery. When you first add the image gallery the size gets set very small due to having to create a new ‘area’ for the images. You can fix that by clicking on the image gallery area, clicking on the gray pencil icon to edit, and setting your gallery ‘Size’ setting to a new value and then changing it back.

adminMemberHello James,
Thank you for your question regarding your BoldGrid connect key. You should be able to change the email address if you are requesting the key right from BoldGrid.
If this still does not work, as this is a public forum, I would recommend contacting our Support team directly. You can call, chat, or email them, and they should be able to assist you with specifics about your BoldGrid site.

adminMemberHello Tim,
Sorry to hear you are having issues with your Monument theme on Safari. Are you doing anything specific when you edit the pages? I edited/created some test pages both with the BoldGrid editor and without. Both pages displayed on the site as they should. They did not underlap the left menu. We tested on Safari version 10.0.3. Any additional information you can give to help us troubleshoot is appreciated.
What is the WordPress version you are using? What BoldGrid version are you using? What Safari version are you using?

adminMemberHello snackablesocialmedi,
Thank you for your question on displaying only excerpts for your posts. To do this, you need to add a very small bit of code to your posts. This is known as the ‘more’ tag. This sets a specific point in your post so that anything above it is displayed as the excerpt.
There is a button to add the code in the top of the editor toolbar. It looks like two solid lines with a dotted line in between. After clicking that button an area will appear on the post that is a dotted line with the word ‘More’ in the center.
This is so you can control how much or little you want to display for the excerpt.

Thank you for your question on adding the Categories widget back to the blog. Without a specific theme, I will have to speak generally, but the method should be very close if not the same.
From your dashboard, hover over the ‘Customize’ option and select the ‘Widgets’ option.
When the Widget tab opens, look for the ‘Edit in Admin’ button and click it.
From the left-hand column of ‘Available Widgets’ drag the ‘Categories’ option to the appropriate area listed on the right. It is normally ‘Sidebar#1’ but this is where it may differ, depending on theme.

Scott MadminMemberHello snackablesocialmedia,
The pages and posts should be appear close to the same in the Visual edit mode as well as when you review them. Are you having issues with specific areas? What is the specific issue you are having? Is it with a specific theme? Which one? Can you provide a link to a sample so we can better understand the issue and try to duplicate it?
Kindest Regards,
Scott MadminMemberBoldGrid is a set of plugins. They allow you to use BoldGrid specific themes as well as give you an easy-to-use page/post editor. You can make normal WordPress changes just as you would any other WordPress site using different plugins. Your site will still be a normal WordPress installation.
adminMemberHello Darren,
Sorry to hear you are having an issue with your title overlapping. I see that this is a CSS issue and have put in a fic request with the development team. From an SEO standpoint, you will be fine, and maybe even better off, to shorten the title to “Save Money on Your Next Cruise”. “McCombs Travel” is already in your URL the header, and I assume the text of the page so Google will automatically make that connection for you. The shorter title can also help you if someone does a more general search, not mentioning any specific company. Also, you do not want to mention a keyword too often as it can be seen as ‘keyword stuffing’ and possibly work against you, especially with H1 headers as they are given more weight than normal text. SEO is not an exact science, however and we are only speaking from our own experience and analysis.
In any case, the fix request has been submitted so the dev team will have a fix out in the near future.
Kindest Regards,
Scott MadminMemberHello Alexprobb,
The ‘Search’ widget is the default WordPress search widget. In searching online for your issue, it seems you may need a plugin such as WPML (WordPress Multi-Language) to accomplish what you are asking. The version needed to translate widgets is currently about $79 USD.

adminMemberHello,
Unlike many competitors, BoldGrid does not claim your creations. You will be able to migrate your site to a different host, but keep in mind that if your new host is not one of our official hosts you won’t be able to use BoldGrid to update your pages anymore. However, the existing page when you export should function as normal.

adminMemberHello Taylor,
We had the developers work with InMotion and were able to determine that the issue was with your default server php.ini file. It was not working correctly and throwing the 500 error. They corrected the php.ini file and a test instance was able to work properly (after confirming your error). You should now be able to use the Customizer with BoldGrid properly.

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your button colors in BoldGrid. I am not sure what you had going on previously. Can you give more details on how you have the button colors changing? In researching this theme, the button color is tied to the same as the header background color, so if the header area is purple, then so is the button.
Were you using a third party plugin that allows you change the button color individually?

adminMemberHello pethot,
Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your Inspiration installation. Can you please provide some more information? Is this an initial install or do you already have an Inspiration installed? Does it just hang or does it give an error message? What version of WordPress and BoldGrid are you using?
Kindest Regards,
Scott MadminMemberHello kymbad5bg,
Thank you for your question on making the background go down the entire page. The background in the site you referenced is only the background for the header area. It stops where the header section ends. the white space you see is reserved for content for your Home Page. If that has no content, then you simply see the small space you have here.

Thank you for your question on having columns in your footer. By default, the footers are a single column wide. This means if you add more than one widget, they will stack on top of each other. There is, however, a way for you to have them side by side.
From the Customizer Menu, click on the ‘Advanced’ tab and then the ‘Footer Settings’ tab. From there, you will see a section for ‘Footer Widget Columns’. Select 3 and then click on the ‘Continue to Widgets Section’ button. Now you will see a tab for ‘Footer Center’ which will span then entire page width, and a tab for each footer column. The columns will be side by side so you should get the look you are after.

Thank you for your question on setting up your blog in Russian. WordPress does indeed allow for you to set up your blog in 162 supported languages, including Russian. You can select the ‘Site Language’ during the install or from the ‘General Settings’ after install.
BoldGrid specific items in the back end, however, are only shown in English. This should only affect the admin or site builder. The front end would display according to the site language and the language you use when creating pages and posts.

Thank you for your question about customizing your theme’s color. You can change your page colors via the Customizer. We have instructions for that right here https://www.boldgrid.com/support/using-the-customizer/changing-colors-through-the-wordpress-customizer/ However, this will affect the color on all of your pages.

adminMemberHello Jennifer.
That is correct. Check out the different themes to see which one fits you best. You can set background images on your individual pages by setting background images for the ‘section’ or ‘gridblock’. That will work with any theme as it is done within the Page Editor.

Sorry to hear you are having an issue with your BoldGrid theme breaking the Customizer. We have not heard of this issue before. What specific WordPress version are you using? What version of BoldGrid are you using? Also, does this happen with any BoldGrid theme or specific ones? We would like to try and duplicate the issue to see if we can assist you.
Kindest Regards,
Scott MadminMemberHello Jennifer,
Thank you for your question on changing the background image for multiple pages within the Customizer. The BoldGrid Customizer is for the theme itself, so any changes made there will be site wide. So when you assign a background image within the Customizer, that image is set for all pages because the image is part of the theme.
For more questions, please post them here as it is much easier to find them. Also, each question asked and answered here will be beneficial to all customers.

Thank you for your question on whether or not the Florentine theme is free with BoldGrid. Yes, all themes you see in the Inspiration section of BoldGrid can be installed for free. BoldGrid does not charge for any of their themes.

Thank you for your question on underlining text in the Evolv theme. Can you be specific about what text you are looking to underline? You say ‘main text’ but do you mean the title text, the text in the call to action, ect?

Thank you for your question on cloning your Active site to Staging. Currently, there is not a feature that allows for that in BoldGrid. I am not privy to the upcoming features so I am not sure if that one is in the cards, but you can certainly request such a feature using our feedback form. Many changes we have added came from users such as yourself.

Thank you for your question on updating your theme. With settings done in the Customizer, updating the theme should not change any of those. So if you changed fonts, colors, etc, then they should be the same after updating the theme to the newest version.Kindest Regards,

adminMemberHello Esh,
Thank you for your question regarding hiding the mobile menu button in the Grid One theme. Please keep in mind that this theme was not designed with this option in mind. However, if you open the Customizer, go to the Advanced tab, and then select the Custom JS & CSS. From there, under ‘Custom Theme CSS’ click Open Editor, make a new line, and then paste the following CSS rule:
button.navbar-toggle{ display: none }Gratefully,

adminMemberHello dfman18,
Thank you for your question regarding the ‘auto-description’ that Facebook makes. It appears that Facebook builds this faux title from your Site Title, and the Page Title. You can change the Site Title from the Customizer section of BoldGrid. The Page Title can be changed from the ‘Pages‘ section of your BoldGrid dashboard. Also, please keep in mind that it appears that Facebook has its own internal cache that you may need to wait to update after you have made changes.

adminMemberHello Ngarcia24,
Sorry to hear it is still giving you trouble. Have you received any error messages when this occurs? Have you tested with the debug settings enabled in WordPress?
Also, InMotion Support can check the email server logs to see if the email server is even trying to send the email at all. That can help with troubleshooting as if the server is sending, then the issue is with receiving, if it is not sending, then the issue is still within the WordPress plugin and/or server configuration.

adminMemberHello celestedesign,
It appears that the CM Map Location plugin does not play well with BoldGrid. We can get it to work without using a BoldGrid theme, but when using a BoldGrid theme, it does not work.
You may want to test different map location plugins or simply embed map locations from Google maps onto the pages.

Thank you for your question on adding a slider to the left of your Call to Action. In the Pavilion theme that area is not meant to have anything in it. Adding something to that area is beyond the scope of the theme design and would have to be coded independently.
You can edit the Call to Action area itself, possibly replacing or adding a slider, it will still act as designed and attempt to work on the right hand side of the screen first.
If you have edited the code via the ‘Text’ tab, then you may have modified the section that places it to the right. If you want to return that code to its original state, you can replace it with the code below:
<div class=”row call-to-action-wrapper”>
<div class=”col-md-7″></div>
<div class=”col-md-5″>
<h2 id=”slogan”>WE MAKE IT OUR BUSINESS TO FIND THE PERFECT FIT FOR YOUR NEEDS.</h2>
<div class=”call-to-action”>
<p class=”p-button-primary”><a class=”button-primary” href=”about-us”>LEARN MORE<i class=”fa fa-angle-double-right”></i></a></p></div>
</div>
</div>Kindest Regards,

adminMemberHello paragonflux,
Sorry to hear you are having issues with your comment text. I checked your site and was able to duplicate it on my test site. The issue appears to happen on themes that have dark text by default like Hifidel, Grid One, etc. When you change the colors to a dark background with white text, the comment text also turns white. Then, in your comments, they appear to be missing because they are white text on a white background.
Themes with light text by default, such as Venetian, do not appear to have this issue.
I have submitted a ticket to the development team to correct this issue for themes that do this. Thank you so much for finding this and letting us know.

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your BoldGrid Editor. While sometimes there can be minor discrepancies between the editor and live pages (even with standard WordPress) it sounds like yours is a bit off. I am not able to duplicate the behavior on my test site. What specific theme are you using?
With regards to the missing buttons in the editor, it sounds as if the BolGrid editor button was toggled off. This is a button in the toolbar of the text editor. It should be just to the right of the View buttons (desktop, tablet, phone). It appears as a four-way arrow. Click that again to enable it and you should see the drag handles and other buttons for the editor.

Thank you for your question on setting a border for a section without having to change the color.
Currently, there is not an option to keep the same color as the rest of the page and have the section outlined with a border.
I would recommend submitting that idea for a future release. It may already be on the developer’s list of things to add, but it never hurts to submit it, just in case.
You can submit it by visiting our feedback page.

Thank you for your question on the Free non-hosted version vs the Premium hosted version.
Currently, the only difference is with how the hosting can handle any support requests. Since InMotion is a Premium Web Hosting Provider, they will offer 100% support for any questions or issues you have with BoldGrid.
If you had BoldGrid and were on XYZ Hosting (fictional non-premium host) then you would not be able to get any BoldGrid support from them directly. They would likely just send you here.
The key itself has no difference in features, etc.
Of course, no matter who you have as a host, you can always come to us with any questions or issues regarding BoldGrid!

adminMemberHello Cathy H,
Thank you for your question on changing the widget size in the footer. The widgets are set to take a percentage of the footer based on the number of widgets selected. If you have three widgets, they each take up 33% of the footer. With four widgets, they each take up 25% of the footer. This also scales with the resolution of the screen as it is shrunken or stretched. If you hard set the widths, you destroy the ability for each visitor to see the footer scaled according to the rest of the page.

Thank you for your question regarding the print page display. I see that issue as well. We are looking into addressing that issue in the coding for BoldGrid, but in the meantime is it practical for you to take a screenshot, and then paste that into a document and print that?

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your Ninja Forms. When testing, I am not experiencing any issues. I would like to try and see if I can duplicate the issue.
Which theme are you using? Does this occur with all ninja forms? Are you viewing an Active or Staged theme? When you say preview, are you viewing from the page editor or are you clicking in view from the dashboard?
