Hello,
Thanks for the questions about creating an original text box. You can create a new block by using the Post and Page Builder. You can start from a blank block and make one that meets your need, then save it for repeated use. If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.
Arnel CMember(note: I’ve re-published this as an ANSWER so that the HTML formatting applies. I had earlier added it as a comment and it was difficult to read.)
Sorry for the continuing issue with the HiFidel theme. Can you tell us what versions you’re using for both the theme and WordPress? Here are my screenshots – I am using the latest versions of both.
Screenshot shows I’m using the Hifidel theme:
Screenshot shows the Classic editor option:
Video shows how I’m getting to the Gallery screen:
When I click on the first image of the slider, I am seeing an edit option. You can see me clicking on it in the video above. The Gutenberg editor is a new WordPress editor that is currently a plugin for WordPress. It will eventually be integrated into the WordPress interface. I currently have it loaded on my test site. You may not have it loaded, but you should still be able to see the BoldGrid edit options.
Please confirm your steps and let us know what versions you are using. You can find the theme version under Customize > Change Themes > Theme Details. My version of Hifidel is 1.24.1 and my WordPress version is 4.9.6. Also, if you could double-check the Inspirations plugin version (under Plugins). It should be 1.5.8 for the latest version. Hope that help! Please provide us a little more info and we can look into it further.
Arnel CMemberHello,
Thanks for your question about having your own domain name with BoldGrid. BoldGrid is a plugin based system that works through WordPress. The trial version you’re mentioning is exactly that – a sample version used to see how BoldGrid works. When you obtain a license, you would be able to use it in a normal installation. You would simply need to have a host and install your WordPress site using your domain name. Then you would load the plugins and apply the license key.
I hope that helps to answer your question! If you require further assistance please let us know!
Regards,
Arnel C.Arnel CMemberHello,
Sorry for the problem with getting the Inspirations listed due to the categories error. I checked it recently, and the problem should be okay. There may have been an issue with the server, but I checked it on a test installation and the categories are loading at this point. If the problem recurs, please provide us the domain for your account and we can look into it further.
Arnel CMemberHello,
Thanks for the question about the slideshow in the Hifidel theme. When you open the Home Page in the Hifidel theme, you need to click on CLASSIC EDITOR. If you initially open it, it may open up in the new Gutenberg editor. You need to click on All Pages in the Pages section, then click on Home Page and Classic Editor. Click on the top image (the slider), and then click on the pencil icon in order to see the gallery of images associated with the slider. You can then edit and change the images that are in the slider. Make sure that you are using images that have the same dimensions.
June 28, 2018 at 5:15 pm in reply to: Can I add a missionary grid gallery to a page of a Boldgrid theme that I have installed? #22386Arnel CMemberHello Patricia,
Thanks for your question about adding a fixed header and setting up a gallery. You can add CSS (if you are familiar with it) to make any of the headers “sticky” so that it stays on top. It would be easier to simply use a plugin such as this one. You can also create a gallery and link it to a post that gives a bigger version of the picture. When you lick on Add media, you will see an option to add a gallery there. In order to create the linked posts, you will need to first create those posts with the image, and then obtain the URL from the finished post. You will need to have 2 images – one for the post and one for the gallery. The image for the gallery can be edited in WordPress. At the bottom of the edit screen for the image, you will be able to put the link to your detailed page on the image. This way, when people click on the image, it will jump to the detailed post. Make sure that you also create a link to go BACK to the gallery. You can do this by adding the URL of the published gallery to text within the post that contains your gallery.
I hope that helps to answer your question! If you require further assistance please let us know!
June 28, 2018 at 4:55 pm in reply to: Can I add a missionary grid gallery to a page of a Boldgrid theme that I have installed? #22387Arnel CMemberHello Patricia,
Thanks for your questions about selecting a theme and setting up a gallery with links.
Arnel CMemberHello again,
Sorry for the problem with the login to your WordPress site. If you are unable to access the site and you are unable to reset it yourself using the WordPress Codex article, then please contact your host’s technical support team for help in accessing your WordPress site. They can help you with getting it reset.
Arnel CMemberHello,
Sorry for the problems with being unable to access the website. We would need to have access to your account in order to reset that password. You may first want to make sure there’s no problem with your WordPress database by checking and it and repairing through your host’s interface. If the problem persists then you will need to have the admin access password reset. You can do that by following the instructions in this article. Otherwise, if you’re not the owner of the site, then you will need to speak with them to have the admin user login password reset.
June 28, 2018 at 11:34 am in reply to: Why can’t I post a comment to an answer to a previous question? #22381Arnel CMemberSorry for the problem with the comments. I talked with our BoldGrid support team and they said to try it once more. It should be working now.
Arnel CMemberSorry to hear about the problem with the update. The current consensus from the BoldGrid team is that the plugin needs to be removed and re-installed. They are reviewing the issue again to make sure that it doesn’t continue to be a problem. You will see an update on the issue if there are any further developments.
June 27, 2018 at 4:04 pm in reply to: How do I remove a black patterned block under the menu bar? #22391Arnel CMemberHello,
Thanks for your question about removing the gray patterned bark from your site. It will require a change in the CSS. You need to login as the administrator, click on Customize, then click on Advanced and finally Custom JS & CSS. Add the following code:
.background-pattern{display:hidden
}
You may need to add !important; after the code in order to override current definitions. The code would look like this:
.background-pattern {display:hidden !important;
}
I found it using the Chrome Inspect option. Identifying the element and then finding the related CSS code. If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.
Arnel CMemberThanks for asking about the issues with the update going from 1.5.8 to 1.5.7. I checked with the BoldGrid personnel and they reported that the issue most likely is cause by bad data. They recommend un-installing the app and then re-installing the app in order to get the version being displayed to the correct version.
If you have any further questions, please let us know.
June 27, 2018 at 1:20 pm in reply to: After editing a page, how do I save the changes so they are published? #22395Arnel CMemberHello,
Thanks for the question about publishing your changes. If you published them already and you are still seeing the previous information, then it’s most likely a caching issue. Make sure to first clear your browser cache, and if that doesn’t help, clear any caching that might running in WordPress.
June 21, 2018 at 3:42 pm in reply to: Is there anyway to hide “Category:” in the header of a given category page? #23105Arnel CMemberYou don’t paste it into a file. You just need to login to your WordPress site, click on Customizer (Administrator > Customize). When you are in the customizer, click on Advanced, then Custom JS & CSS. You will see two fields for the CSS. Paste the code snippet in that section and then click on Publish to save your changes. Changes made in this section will not be removed by an update to the theme.
Arnel CMemberThanks for the question about removing the hamburger menu button. There’s no “mobile version” as this is a responsively designed site. The best way to handle this is to simply go into your Customization section (Administrator >Customization >Menus >Primary). Uncheck the Primary Menu from the Menu Locations section (as per the screenshot below)
Then when look at the site on a mobile device, you should see no hamburger button. Note that when you make change, it may still appear on your desktop, but when I tested it on the mobile device, there was nothing there.
I hope that helps! If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.
Kindest regards,
Arnel C.
Arnel CMemberHello,
Thanks for the question about editing your header. I spoke with one of the BoldGrid people and they suggested that you add the link to the head.php file. The best way to get to it is to:
- Login to the Administrator dashboard
- Under the Customize menu, click on CSS/HTML editor
- Click on Templates in the list on the right hand side and then find head.php
- The values that are added in this section do NOT appear visually on the web page. So you should be able to add the link here.
If it needs to be visible, then it should be in a different location of the header. Also, please bear in mind that you are directly editing the theme. If any updates or changes are made to the theme overall, then these changes would be erased by the update. The best way to handle it is to create a child theme. There are a couple ways to handle it, but click on the link and you’ll see one of the options. Using a child theme will help to prevent the loss of your changes. Also, as always, make sure to back up your site before making ANY changes to it.
Arnel CMemberHello,
Sorry for the problem with the Wedding Band theme not appearing to be compatible to the BoldGrid theme/plugins. Try de-activating the BoldGrid Post and Page builder and then try using the theme with its plugins. While we try to make sure that the BoldGrid plugins work with everything, there may always be an exception due to some unseen conflict or functionality.
Arnel CMemberHello Amanda,
Thanks for the question about adding a blog section to your home page. You can go about it a few ways. Blog content normally comes from posts. So if you want to keep your existing content, you can log in to the Administrator, click on Customize, Click on Advanced, Click on Home Page settings and then select the page where you want your Blog posts to go. All of your posts would then be going to that page by default. If you want to have several categories for your posts, then you can choose to keep the Blog page or get rid of it altogether. You would then need to first create Categories (under Blog Posts – or Posts if you don’t have BoldGrid loaded). Then you would go to the Menus section and add each Category as a menu item. After that, you can create a post, assign it to a category, and then post will appear in that category. Creating categorized sections is more work and the appearance may require some changes to CSS depending on the theme that you use. Keep in mind, that if you still set a Blog page in the Homepage Settings, then ALL of the posts would appear on that page. It can be a little confusing, but you will understand it better if you actually create the pages and then add posts and see how they’re organized by WordPress. If you don’t want all of the posts to appear in one section, then you would simply not specify a blog page.
I hope that helps to explain it! If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.
Arnel CMemberJune 21, 2018 at 10:57 am in reply to: Background image doesn’t adjust in size on my mobile devices #22411Arnel CMemberSorry to hear that your Background Image doesn’t adjust on mobile devices. You specify that the image doesn’t open in your mobile device. The website does not have separate code to open on different devices, so it should be opening in the browser regardless of the device. We would need a URL to review the issue in more depth. Also, if you get any error messages, please let us know. Provide us this information and we can investigate the problem further.
Arnel CMemberThanks for your question about “Cloud-based Trial sites.” BoldGrid Central allows you to create accounts where you can install WordPress with the BoldGrid plugin for a trial basis. The configuration for the server uses a Cloud-based server – hence the term “Cloud Based Trial Sites.” The general description of a Cloud server is:
Cloud servers can be configured to provide levels of performance, security and control similar to those of a dedicated server. But instead of being hosted on physical hardware that’s solely used by you, they reside in a shared “virtualized” environment that’s managed by your cloud hosting provider.Arnel CMemberThanks for the question on changing the About Me area. In general, the “About me” section is a page. You would need to login to the PAGES section, find the related page and edit it. If it’s not a page, then it should be a Widget. You can go into the widgets section and then find the related widget and edit it there.
Arnel CMemberThanks for your question in regards to adding a new post. Please understand that there are different ways that the blog page could be functioning within your WordPress site. If you have loaded an Inspiration from BoldGrid and you selected to have the BLOG activated, then it’s simply a matter of adding a blog post and then making sure that it is using the category of BLOG. If you go to Inspirations and load one up with the blog activated, you can see the example entries in the Blog posts section of the Administrator.
If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.
Kindest regards,
Arnel C.
Arnel CMemberHello Cat,
Sorry for the problem with your Staging site. You should first try to repair the database. If you are unable to do that, then you will need to speak with your host’s tech support team. It appears that some of the files may have been damaged during your attempt to backup the site.
Arnel CMemberSorry for the problem with the website not appearing using the Premium Connect Key. Please provide more information about your URL and then we can look to see what may be causing the issue.
If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Arnel CMemberThanks for your question about a theme for BoldGrid that could be used for an Educational website. The themes provided in BoldGrid were not specifically designed with Education in mind. However, all of them can be easily customized to meet the needs of an educational website. Additionally, functionally can still be expanded using WordPress plugins.
I hope that helps to answer your question! If you require further assistance please let us know!
Arnel CMemberSorry for the problems with connecting with BoldGrid connect. Make sure that you have latest version of the plugins. The problem should only be temporary as the servers may not have been accessible if they were in maintenance. If the problem recurs, please let us know and provide your domain name so that we can investigate the issue in more depth.
Arnel CMemberSorry for the problem with the page going to a 503 error. I would recommend trying to troubleshoot the site by first disabling plugins by renaming the plugins folder. If the site comes backup without the plugins loading, then it’s most likely an issue with a plugin that you’re using. You may need to speak with your hosting server’s support team for assistance if you are unable to make the changes.
Arnel CMemberThanks for your questions about adding video to your BoldGrid Site.
First, please remember that BoldGrid is a plugin for WordPress. Many of your video limitations will depend on your host and the type of subscription that you have selected. For example, a shared server subscription would not be suitable to host a large video as opposed to using a dedicated server subscription.
- Is there SIZE (In MB/GB) limitation of uploaded video file? Depends on the server and subscription you’re using to host the site.
- Is there SIZE (in minutes) limitations of uploaded video file? Depends on the server and subscription you’re using to host the site. Larger videos are not recommended for hosting on a server. For one, you’re typically limited to a single distribution point, which means that only people close to the server would have optimal viewing of the file. You should consider using a CDN (Content Delivery Network) if you’re going to be using large static files.
- Which format is better (faster to open, more stable for the customers/visitors of the web-page) to upload – avi, mp4, flv….some other? I typically see MP4 files. However, you need to also determine with you’re using streaming video files or not. MP4 files can be optimized for streaming. It again depends upon the delivery mechanism.
- I want to upload video file which i edited in Adobe Premiere Pro, how can I do that? Video is handled in WordPress like any media file – through the Media library. You can upload a video file there.
- I saw all your designs and patterns – they are very very similar so I am confused which one to choose when it comes to uploading videos? Would be there any difference between “Diced” and “Florentine” for example? Between “Florentine” in “Music” and “Florentine” in “Real Estate”? The main difference would be the graphics used, but often the formatting remains the same. Florentine in Music and Florentine in Real Estate is mainly a difference in the media and colors used.
Just as a quick tip, check out this article about hosting videos (mainly about not hosting it yourself). Hosting videos can be a complex thing depending on what you’re doing. Make sure to review everything that’s involved in order to make the right decision.
Best regards,
Arnel C.

Arnel CMemberThanks for your question about changing the Bog Entry title font size. You should use a browser inspect option and then find the actual identity of the title you’re trying to change. For example:
When you have identified, you can go into the Customize section, then go to Advanced and add Custom CSS to modify the title. For example, you could add this could in the CSS section:
.site-title a {font-size: 20px;}
That should change the site title as identified in the screenshot above.
I hope that helps to answer your question! If you require further assistance please let us know!
Regards,
Arnel C.Arnel CMemberHi Ali,
Thanks for your patience. I asked one of the BoldGrid designers to help and they explained the issue. The widgets involved in this issue use a Bootstrap defined “.well”. This option is defined in CSS. Follow these directions:
- Log in to the Administrator Dashboard
- Click on Customize
- Click on Advanced
- Click on Custom JS & CSS
- Add the following code to the CSS section under the existing code:
.well {
background: #808080;
color: #fff;
}It should go under any existing code in the CSS section.
Make sure to click on PUBLISH or UPDATE to save your changes.
If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

May 24, 2018 at 1:49 pm in reply to: [Resolved] Locking the header so it remains at the top when you scroll #22532Arnel CMemberHi Ali,
Thanks for the question about locking the header so that it remains at the top of the screen when you scroll. It’s actually a very simple CSS change that you can add in the customizer.
- Log in to the Administrator Dashboard
- Click on Customize
- Click on Advanced
- Click on Custom JS & CSS
- Add the following code to the CSS section under the existing code:
.site-header {
position: fixed;
top: 0;
width: 100%;
z-index: 2000;
}6. Make sure to click on PUBLISH (or Update) in order to save your changes.
This will make the header fixed. At least, when I loaded the Cobalt theme and put in this code, it worked!
If you have any further questions, please let us know.
Arnel CMemberSorry for the problems with removing the sidebar in WooCommerce from the shop. In reviewing what you’re asking for, I did some searching and one forum lead me to the hooks provided by WooCommerce to remove or add certain functionality. As this is a customization of the WooCommerce interface, my advice would be to look at the provided documentation and then contact WooCommerce directly for assistance. They would be able to provide you the most exact answer as it concerns their code.
Arnel CMemberHi Savannah,
Thanks for your question about changing the color of ONE menu item. This can be done, but it is beyond the default functionality of BoldGrid. You can use Chrome’s Inspect option to identify the CSS element that needs to be changed. Check out this article on the code that’s involved when making the change. You may need to simply add “!important;” to the end of your change in order to make it apply. This will allow the change to override any other assigned definition.
Arnel CMemberApologies for the problem with viewing the Inspirations provided with your BoldGrid installation. In order for us to troubleshoot it, can you please give us the domain name you are using. If you have an account with us, then we can try to see what’s causing the problem.
Arnel CMemberThanks for the question about removing a background section from a BoldGrid theme. If the option is not available through the BoldGrid interface, then it would more than likely require the intervention of custom CSS coding. You can use the Inspect option in Chrome in order to determine what’s required for the background to be removed. We would need more specific information about the issue in order to assist you with the problem. Please provide a URL, the version of BoldGrid and steps that we can use to duplicate the issue.
Arnel CMemberThanks for your question about Multi-agent themes for the Real Estate theme. We do not currently provide support for multi-real estate agent theme functionality. You can always create separate sites – one for each agent.
Arnel CMemberThanks for the question about tightening up the open space in the template header area. When I inspect the site with the Chrome Inspect tool I see an invisible area called “div.site-branding” which appears to be an invisible H3 tag. I removed it using the non-destructive editing option and the space tightens up. Here’s the area I’m talking about:
You can use the information provided by the Inspect option in Chrome (or other browser) to find the CSS option and remove it. Make sure to make a backup before you make any changes. Here’s what it looks like:
If you want keep that header you’ll need to move it elsewhere on the page. I hope that helps to answer your question! If you require further assistance please let us know!
