Hello Ben,
Thanks for the question about using the BoldGrid plugin on your website with Godaddy. You can download the free plugin and manually install BoldGrid. However, if you want to use the premium features, then you would need to obtain a premium key. For more information on obtaining a premium key go to BoldGrid Central and create an account.
Arnel CMemberAre you using any other plugins or caching for your WordPress site? We are unable to duplicate the problem that you are having. Make sure to reset any caching and clear your browser cache. The themes were updated, but I’m not sure what may have changed. I have sent a query to our development team for information regarding the issue.
January 15, 2018 at 1:25 pm in reply to: add a (responsive full-screen width (100%view width) text container #23144Arnel CMemberHello,
Thanks for the question about setting up a TEXT screen for your home page. The Text page consists of several layers, but you can easily create a text-only page by doing the following:
- remove the background of the current home page. Go to the Customize bar (login to WP-Admin, click on Customize), then click on Background.
- Click on Remove or add a color/pattern background
- Click on Advanced in the Customize bar
- Click on HomePage settings
- make sure the Your home displays option is set to “A static page”
- Click on Add a New page under Home Page
- Type in the text for the new page. You can change the font, color, size and styles here too.
Hope that helps!
Arnel CMemberSorry for the problem with the page not showing. I’m not sure if you have BoldGrid properly installed. Are you using a free or premium version? Typically, when you look at the pages, it will look like this:
The Development group indicates if it is Active or Staging. Please provide us a little information or double-check your installation to make sure that BoldGrid is properly installed.
Arnel CMemberSorry for the problem with the Video no longer centering. BoldGrid uses Bootstrap code to help with formatting the pages. You will need to put your video in an iFrame that makes the video response to the sizing. Here’s the code that you should use:
<div class=”embed-responsive embed-responsive-16by9″>
<iframe class=”embed-responsive-item” src=”http://place-video-file-name-here.mp4″></iframe>
</div>Make sure to properly place your video file as the source.
Arnel CMemberHello Franco,
It is possible to run BoldGrid on just about any web host for WordPress. You will need to setup an account with BoldGrid Central in order to be able to purchase stock photos provided with the plugin (if needed). You should be able to run BoldGrid on SiteGround without any problems beyond that, though. If you have any further questions, please let us know.
January 11, 2018 at 10:03 am in reply to: How do I increase the BoldGrid Backup plug-in’s capabilities from 10 GB to 15 GB? #23154Arnel CMemberThanks for the question of increasing the BoldGrid Backup plugin from 10 to 15 GB. Currently, the limit is set to 10 GB and cannot be increased in the software. If your site is beyond 10 GB in size, then I would highly recommend using a 3rd party backup option. You can also consult with your host in order to determine if you have any options for backing your site through their services.
Arnel CMemberThe change is not standard, it’s a custom change within the code, so you will need to find it using the Chrome Inspector or a similar tool. When you are in the chrome inspector, there is an option to select the part of the page and it identifies that section in the code. Please see my screenshot below – it identifies that particular section. If you turn off of the background, then the image looks okay.
Arnel CMemberHello
Sorry for the problem with the BoldGrid application. I’m not sure where you read that you need a Development Groups plugin, but if you are using BoldGrid, that is not one of the plugins that are provided. You should be starting with the Inspirations plugin and then the others are loaded automatically. Please provide us information about your installation such as the versions you’re using, any other plugins that you have loaded so that we can check to see if you’re getting a conflict of some sort.
Arnel CMemberHello,
Sorry for the problems with the text issues when trying to change the colors. You may want to make sure that you have the current version of the BoldGrid plugins. Make sure they are updated. If you’re still having the problem after checking, please check to see if there are other plugins that may be conflicting. You should be able to click on the orange control handle when hovering over text. Click on the “hamburger menu” (it looks like several horizontal lines), and then click on Font. The color option is on the right. Here’s what it should look like:
If you continue to have the problem, please provide information about the version you’re running as well as any error messages you might be seeing.
January 10, 2018 at 12:56 pm in reply to: when I try to log into my account to edit my site, I’m getting a fatal error message #23160Arnel CMemberHello,
Apologies for the problem with the error message with BoldGrid. Please try disabling the SEO plugin in the plugins section. You can do it manually by going to the files for your WordPress installation, then going to the plugins folder and renaming the boldgrid-seo folder. After you do that, try logging into your BoldGrid site. If you’re able to login, please provide us the version of the plugin that you’re using. It’s possible that the plugin is conflicting with something else. If you require assistance with this, please contact your hosting technical support team. Also, please try to reload the plugin and see if it helps.
Double-check to see if another plugin is conflicting (non-BoldGrid), but disabling them and then renabling them one-by-one while the BoldGrid SEO plugin is running. This would be after re-loading the BoldGrid SEO plugin and making sure that all other plugins are turned off. This should help isolate what is causing the problem. On WordPress sites running BoldGrid, there is no reported history of the SEO plugin causing a fatal error at present, so this is a new issue. Please provide us with this information and we can investigate the issue in more depth.
Arnel CMemberApologies for the continued issues with the background. There are probably a different set of CSS rules applying to this section of your site. You should be able to use the same change you did earlier, but you will need to identify the background definition for your blog page. It’s likely that they simply use a different name for the background of that page. You can use the Chrome Inspect option in order identify the CSS element you need to change.
Arnel CMemberThanks for the question about the Photo caption types. By default, the caption can only use the Paragraph (P) or Heading (H1-4) for formatting purposes. If you still want to change it beyond that you would need to make custom CSS changes to your BoldGrid site. You can use our article on customizing CSS using the Chrome Browser. If you have any further questions, please let us know.
January 8, 2018 at 5:16 pm in reply to: Css for my typekit font is not working in your advanced customizer #23199Arnel CMemberHello Amanda,
Sorry for the problem with the Typekit fonts. I checked with the BoldGrid developers and the bottom line is that you need to make custom changes to the code in order to use Typekit fonts. They can be used, but by default BoldGrid fonts are enabled.
Inline styling should work, but I know but it may be more trouble than it’s worth. Modify the BoldGrid Kirki (or whatever font is being loaded by BoldGrid) to include TypeKit with something like this:
Code for Addint Typekit fonts to Kirki
If you want to do it within the Custom CSS Editor, you can also use !important tags in their CSS rules as well (edited) so that they override existing CSS definitions.
In the themes config.php file, you can also do this:
$boldgrid_framework_configs[’customizer-options’][’typography’][’enabled’] = false;
This removes the BoldGrid Font CSS. The file is located in inc/boldgrid-theme-framework-config/config.php
You would then be free to use the TypeKit Plugin, and Custom CSS in the editor to add a custom font. Keep in mind that nothing will be styled via BoldGrid for fonts once that is done.
I hope this helps to answer your question! If you have any further questions, please let us know.
January 8, 2018 at 4:26 pm in reply to: Is there a plugin compatible with BoldGrid to add an expand/collapse function to a div? #23197Arnel CMemberYou can use the following code for creating expanding or collapsing divs:
Bootstrap (3.3.7) – Collapse code
I saw the code work, so Bootstrap is being loaded with the BoldGrid. I tested the code by doing the following:
- Opened post to edit
- Clicked on block and then added a section.
- I then typed in a quick marker in the Visual editor to let me know where I wanted the code to be set.
- Next, I went to the TEXT editor tab.
- I looked for the text I added. I highlighted the code and then pasted the Collapse code provided by Bootstrap.
- You will need to edit the code in order add your own content.
Once I had the code in place, I looked at it in the Visual tab. Each of the collapsed sections are OPEN in the Visual editor. You can preview the page and then you can click on the links for collapsing or expanding the sections. I plan to write a tutorial on this shortly, but you have the basic steps.
I hope this helps!
January 8, 2018 at 2:25 pm in reply to: I am in staging and I went to change Inspiration theme and wiped out my whole site. Can I get it back? #23195Arnel CMemberSorry that you lost all of your work after changing Inspirations with your Staging site. Unfortunately, there is no way to recover your work unless you have a backup of your site from when the Inspiration had not yet been changed.
January 8, 2018 at 1:45 pm in reply to: Why can’t I change the widget color using css without getting a warning saying not allowed to change theme? #23173Arnel CMemberSorry for the problem with changing the background color. You should be able to change the color of the widgets using CSS unless there is some type of Javascript associated with a function. In order for us to investigate this further, we would need to know if you’re using a premium key or not. Also, what version of BoldGrid are you using and what exactly are you trying to change? Please provide us a little more information so that we narrow down where this is happening and correct it if necessary.
Arnel CMemberDid you add your Connect key during the installation? Do you have a premium key? You may need to upgrade the key if you’re trying to get different themes. Please give us a little information on your installation. We need the domain name, if you have a key and the exact steps you’re taking in order to duplicate the error you’re seeing. The error seems centered around the key. Please give us more information and we can look into the issue in more depth.
Arnel CMemberMaking a change to the display settings based on screen size will require changes within the code. It is not a part of the normal functionality of BoldGrid. The screen settings are based on Bootstrap. You should be able to find more information in the BoldGrid documentation. Apologies that we do not have any direct answer for your query.
Arnel CMemberHello Deborah,
Thanks for the question about getting your coins refunded. You will need to speak with your host (InMotion Hosting) in order to obtain the refund. We do not have access and are unable to provide you a refund for the coins through the BoldGrid Support Center. If you have any further questions, please let us know.
Arnel CMemberHello,
Sorry for the problem with the strange borders appearing around your two pages. Automatic updates would not change the appearance of your site, but it’s possible that accessing the page in the Customizer may have lead to the borders accidentally being added. You should be able to go back into the Customizer, go back to those pages and check the background image or patterns and make sure nothing is selected. Additionally, before you make any changes, make sure to check the page in the editor. If it was saved at least once, then there will be a Revision option under the Publish section. Both the home page and you sign up page should be saved in the Pages section. Once you have the pages looking the way they are supposed to look, please make sure to make a Backup.
I hope this helps. If you continue to have problems with it, please let us know and we can look into the issue in more depth.
Arnel CMemberHello Dan,
Sorry for the continuing error. Basically, the error explains the issue:
PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function curl_multi_init() in /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/boldgrid-inspirations/includes/class-boldgrid-inspirations-deploy.php:1912
The PHP function is not defined in your PHP version for some reason. I checked this error with any history in the WordPress support forums and it is an issue faced multiple plugins. Posts in the WordPress forum advise on loading PHP with the option Curl library enabled. It may be missing or incomplete leading to the error that you are facing.
Arnel CMemberAdding buttons side by side will require that you’re in a space to do that. If you have multiple columns and there’s content in the way, then you will not be able to put the buttons side by side. Can you please provide a URL or more information on the page that you’re trying to add the buttons so that we can try to duplicate the issue and explain the issue with more clarity.
You can check out this image to see that I was able to add 2 buttons in the same row:
The option may be disabled due to content on the page or the format of the grids in the area where you’re trying to add them.
Arnel CMemberHello,
Apologies for the problems with logging into WordPress. We can not reset your password for you through the support center as we do not verify accounts for security purposes. You will need to speak with the technical support team associated with your hosting account. They will be able to look at your account and help you to recover your password if the password recovery options provided by WordPress are not working. Apologies again that we cannot directly address this issue.
Arnel CMemberThe suggestion is that you may be using a custom php.ini file. Try renaming it and see if that helps. Based on the error message (Class ‘DOMDocument’ not found), you may also want to try enabling php-XML. This suggestion to resolve the error can be found in this support post.
Arnel CMemberThanks for the question about adding two buttons in a row. We need a little more information about exactly what you’re trying to do in order to help you. Please provide us details on what you’re doing so that we can try to duplicate the issue. Otherwise, you may want to check out this article on using Bootstrap to create buttons in WordPress. There also many plugins that can help you get your buttons created.
January 3, 2018 at 8:32 am in reply to: Custom HTML text box in Advanced footer settings is no longer visible #23234Arnel CMemberHello Shona,
Depending on your version, the editors are still in the Advanced section. However, if you’re trying to edit HTML in a footer, you should be able to go into the footer section of the customizer, then edit the footer widget. It will let you change the text there through the visual editor, or the HTML if you use the Text editor.
I hope that helps to answer your question! If you require further assistance, please let us know!
Arnel CMemberHello Dan,
Apologies for the problem with loading the Swifty Inspiration. Did you try any other theme/inspiration? We need a little more information on the issue as we don’t have the same installation environment. Make sure to turn on the error reporting and hopefully this will provide enough information to tell us where the installation is failing. Apologies for the Support center not allowing images. If you have access to a public upload space where you can share the URL, then you can add a link showing the screenshot. I personally use Snagit’s Screencast.com as an example. Please provide us a little further information and we can investigate the issue in more depth.
Arnel CMemberHello,
Thanks for the question about adding JSON-LD markup code to specific pages. Check out this forum post for the specifics on adding the code. There’s also this post that shows an example of using JSON-LD with WordPress. Hopefully, this will be all the information you need to add the code. If you have any further questions, please let us know.
December 20, 2017 at 4:32 pm in reply to: Why do I get the error “Plugin does not exist” after upgrading the BoldGrid Editor to Version 1.6.0.1 #23276Arnel CMemberHello,
Sorry for the problem with the error “Plugin does not exist” after upgrading to version 1.6.0.1. Try removing the plug-in, and then uploading the plugin again from this link Post and Page Builder by BoldGrid. If you continue to have the problem after re-loading it, please let us know.
Arnel CMemberHello Tina,
Apologies for the issues with your BoldGrid site after it was upgraded. I did take a look at your site and contacted BoldGrid. It appears that the issue has been addressed by the host technical support team. The issue was theme related and has been brought to the attention of the BoldGrid team. If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.
Arnel CMemberIf you have purchased a premium key with your host in order to use BoldGrid, then you will need to contact your host for cancellation of the subscription. Additionally, they would be able to help with any refunds if they apply.
If you installed and are only using the FREE version of BoldGrid, then you simply have to de-activate and then delete the plugins from your WordPress installation.

Arnel CMemberHello,
Sorry for the problem with getting Customize to work on your BoldGrid site. I’m not sure what’s causing the problem. Before you try anything, make sure to clear your browser cache and then try accessing the page. I would recommend that you re-load the BoldGrid plugins (make they are up-to-date). Also, double-check the PHP version that you are using on your server. If you are using cPanel, it is possible that you have a way to change the PHP version built into cPanel. Make sure you’re using version 5.6 or higher. You can also use the guide for Displaying and Loggin PHP errors, Warnings, and Notices. This will help to determine what’s causing the problem. Additionally, check the article on PHP Troubleshooting for BoldGrid to help determine the version you’re using. You may need to speak with your host’s technical support for further information about changing your PHP version.
Arnel CMemberHello,
Thanks for your comment about the inspirations not matching your field of business or occupation. We understand that the Inspirations do not match many of the subjects that are on the web today. The Inspirations in BoldGrid are fully built websites that are made to serve as templates for the design. This means that you can take any present design and modify it for your own use. It’s not necessary to take the categorizations of the Inspirations as meaning that you can’t use those websites for another purpose. I hope this helps to clear up the issue. If you have another topic that you feel cannot be covered by the templates, please let us know and we can look into the issue with the design team to determine what works best for you.
December 18, 2017 at 9:45 am in reply to: Cannot edit pages with BoldGrid editor plug-in activated #23282Arnel CMemberHello,
Sorry for the problem with the BoldGrid editor not working. We have not seen an issue like this, so we would need more information. Did you perform the BoldGrid installation? If so, do you have a premium key? Can you let us know what version of BoldGrid you have installed and what version of WordPress you are using? Additionally, please provide any steps that we should take to duplicate the problem. This will need to include any information on plugins and third-party themes that you may be using. Finally, if you can also provide your website’s URL, we can take a look at it in more depth..
Arnel CMemberHello,
I looked at your site and you appear to be using the BoldGrid theme Hydra. Your steps are a little vague as I’m not sure if you’re doing the same thing using the BoldGrid interface. I have created a video demonstrating the font size change using the Hydra theme. Please review it and let us know if it matches what you’re doing. Also, I did show the version of plugins I’m using. The WordPress version is 4.9.1. If you’re still having problems, can you let us know if you have any other plugins that are loaded to your site?
Arnel CMemberHello,
Thanks for the question about the plugins. It’s okay if you’re having trouble with understanding plugins as it can be a little daunting if you’re new to the interface and using it. Plugins are used to extend the functionality of WordPress. There are thousands of them. You add them to your WordPress installation by logging into the Administrator Dashboard, going to the plugins section and then selecting Add New. You will then search for a new plugin and then click on Install Now to install it. After it’s installed, you will see the Activate button. You simply have to press it to activate it.
Depending on their purpose, plugins don’t just “appear on your page.” Their interface may simply be in the Administrator Dashboard. If you’re installing BoldGrid, please refer to this tutorial for manual installation.
I hope this helps to answer your question, please let us know if you require any further assistance.
Regards,
Arnel C.
Arnel CMemberThanks for your question about changing the background for a single page instead of the entire website. The pages or posts backgrounds can be changed per section or block. You have to edit the page and then select the section where you want to change the background. If you want the block to encompass the whole page, then you can make the block do so by simply dragging down to expand it. You can see in the screenshot below that you simply need to click on the toolbar to change the image/color/pattern of the section background.
Arnel CMemberSorry for the problem with changing the font size on the page. If you can please tell us the steps you’re taking to make the change and provide us a URL to look at your site, then we can investigate the matter in more depth. We are not seeing an issue with changing the font size in any of our test sites using BoldGrid. For information on how to make that change, please see How to Change Typography in WordPress.
