Unfortunately, widgets do not display in the Page/Post Editor this is the default behavior for WordPress. There are also not any blocks for recent posts since it is a widget.
Thank you,
John-Paul
JohnPaul BMemberHello Red,
Thank you for contacting us about BoldGrid overriding WooCommerce. We are happy to help but will need some additional information. Are you using the Square addon? If you are, have you verified that your site meets the minimum requirements?
Can you provide a link to your BoldGrid site for us to test and replicate the issue?
Thank you,
John-Paul
March 13, 2018 at 11:40 am in reply to: How can I remove/hide the logo from the home page but leave it in all the others? #22855JohnPaul BMemberHello Angelo,
Thank you for contacting us about hiding the logo on your homepage. You can accomplish this with the Custom CSS Editor. For example, you could follow these steps.
- In the Dashboard click the Customize link.
- In the Customizer click Advanced then Custom JS & CSS.
- In the Custom Theme CSS section add the following code:
.home .site-branding {display:none;}

JohnPaul BMemberHello Melinda,
Thank you for contacting us about setting up a staging site. Typically, the staging plugin is installed after you install your first inspiration. But you can click Plugins and then Install/Activate the BoldGrid Staging plugin. It will then give you the option to “Make this new Inspiration my Staging website.”
Thank you,
John-Paul
JohnPaul BMemberHello Darrell,
Thank you for contacting us about changing the bottom margin of a site title. The bottom margin of the Hydra theme can only go to -20 by default. This means you would have to use custom CSS to override the theme. Here is a helpful link to our guide on How To Use Google Chrome Developer Tools to Customize CSS in BoldGrid. This would require some familiarity with HTML, CSS, etc.
Thank you,
John-Paul
JohnPaul BMemberHello telecetera,
Since it looks like this is the “Site Title” of your theme, you should be able to customize your site title and logo so it displays better on both devices. We are happy to help you troubleshoot further, but will need some additional information. Can you provide a link to your site for testing? What specific theme are you using?
Thank you,
John-Paul
JohnPaul BMemberHello Norma,
Thank you for the additional information. Here is a helpful link to our guide on Editing and Adding menus. I would first try using the Customizer to see if you can add the menu to the section above. Here are some steps:
- In the BoldGrid Dashboard click Customize.
- Then roll your mouse over the plus signs ‘+’ and pencils to see if one lines up with your logo.
- From there you can choose from multiple menu locations to have your menu display, or add a menu to a widget area.
In my tests with the Primas theme, the second plus sign ‘+’ from the top allowed me to add the menus in line with my logo. If it does not line up exactly, you may have to use custom code/CSS to modify it further.
Thank you,
John-Paul
JohnPaul BMemberWe spent some time looking into your site, and the second header seems to be called in by WooCommerce. This means in order to remove this, you will have to create a child theme and override the setting in the code. Here is the guide on creating a child theme. This requires that you have some knowledge of CSS.
Another option that may work is to use the Custom CSS Editor to hide this. For example, you may be able to use the following code:
headerimg {
visibility: hidden;

JohnPaul BMemberHello cclowe,
Thank you for contacting us about an invalid argument error. Sorry to hear about the trouble you are experiencing. We have seen some instance of this before and usually uninstalling, then reinstalling the Post and Page builder can help correct this. Since your site is with a BoldGrid Web Host that provides full support, you can also contact them if your problems persist.Thank you,
John-Paul
February 22, 2018 at 10:40 am in reply to: Do I still need to create a child theme with all of your themes, or no? #22939JohnPaul BMemberHello Kemmy,
Thank you for contacting us about whether you need a child theme to use BoldGrid. A child theme is not required to build and customize your site with BoldGrid. But, if you have knowledge of PHP, HTML, and CSS, a child theme can be used to do things like customize your page, header and footer templates, add additional widget areas or sidebars, and much more. Here is a link to our guide on How to Create a Child Theme to Customize Your WordPress Website.
Thank you,

February 22, 2018 at 10:14 am in reply to: How do I get a photo back in the section where I took it out? #22943JohnPaul BMemberHello Penny,
Sorry to hear about the troubles you are experiencing. You can add the block back to your page by editing your page and clicking the Add Block button. On the top-right next to Block Filters, click the drop-down and choose “Used Blocks”. You should then see the original block and can click Add to Page or drag/drop it back on your page. You can then roll your mouse over the section with the “empty space” on the left and click the Trash Can to delete it. Let us know if you have any further issues or questions.
Thank you,
John-Paul
JohnPaul BMemberHello GSicki,
Thank you for contacting us about a mobile menu appearing behind your content. In our tests, we got inconsistent results based on the device and browser. In the Android devices we tested on everything worked successfully; on iPhones, we got javascript errors with Safari, and Chrome caused the menu to appear behind the content. Instead of serving the site differently for mobile devices, we recommend adjusting the existing site to display across different browser window sizes. BoldGrid has a tool for viewing your site with Desktop, Tablet, or Phone views. Since WordPress and BoldGrid themes are responsive, your site should automatically adjust to the screen size.
Thank you,
John-Paul
JohnPaul BMemberHello Robert,
Thank you for contacting us about restoring your site layout. You may have to clear your browser cache after deleting your child theme, as it could be displaying an older version of your site. When testing your site, everything is appearing as centered. I’m not seeing anything shifted to the left. Are you still having trouble? Is there a specific page on the site that is shifted to the left?
Thank you,
John-Paul

Thank you for contacting us regarding how long before you should be able to see the premium key on your website. Ensure you updated your BoldGrid Connect key as described in that guide. You should see this change immediately after updating the key.

JohnPaul BMemberHello Allison,
Thank you for contacting us about moving a secondary menu. You should be able to Edit and Add Menus from the WordPress Customizer. When I tested your site, I did not see a secondary menu. Is it on a specific page?

JohnPaul BMemberHello Chip,
Thank you for contacting us about adjusting the size of a youtube video. After embedding a youtube video you should be able to drag the slider in the page editor to resize the block. If you are not able to resize it in that area, you can create a block for containing the video. You may have to style the block content further to suit your needs. Let us know if you have any further questions.
Thank you,
John-Paul

Thank you for contacting us about your website appearing differently online. Ensure you are working on the Active, instead of Staging site. We are happy to help you troubleshoot further, but will need some additional information. Can you provide a link to the site for us to test?

JohnPaul BMemberHello Debbie,
Thank you for contacting us about changing the page title color. Since the page title color is determined by the Theme, you would have to use Google Chrome Developer Tools to Customize CSS and over-ride the setting. If you are referring to the “Call to Action” on the top-center of the homepage, we have a guide on Customize Header and Footer Widgets that will walk you through.
Thank you,
John-Paul
JohnPaul BMemberHello autumnstokes60,
Thank you for contacting us about getting kicked out of your site. I recommend displaying and logging errors as it may provide more specific information into what is happening. Also, try disabling your plugins, you can do this by renaming your /plugins folder, For example, rename the folder to “plugins.old” to disable them all en masse. This will rule out a conflicting plugin.
Thank you,
John-Paul
December 19, 2017 at 4:56 pm in reply to: In the text view of the BoldGrid Editor, I would like to see the HTML tags indented appropriately #23693JohnPaul BMemberHello Jeff,
Instead of modifying the functions.php file to adjust/center the background image, I recommend using the Background tool in the Customizer. You can also use the Page/Post Editor in BoldGrid to change the width and size by dragging the sections.
If you want to modify/custom-code a theme, the details are covered in the BoldGrid Documentation. This information will primarily be useful for a developer or designer, as it assumes familiarity with HTML, CSS, PHP, etc.
Thank you,

JohnPaul BMemberHello Ajkelsey,
Thank you for contacting us with issues adjusting the font size in BoldGrid. We tested with the same versions of the plugins and everything was working successfully. I noticed you are hosted with WebHosting Hub, which is one of our Supporting Web Hosts. I recommend reaching out to them to ensure there are not any issues on the hosting platform. They fully support BoldGrid and can provide account specific assistance, or reach out to us if there is an incompatibility.

JohnPaul BMemberHello Black,
Thank you for contacting us about adding your products to your homepage. If you are using WooCommerce, here is a helpful link to a similar question on How Do I Add A WooCommerce Product To A Page? You should not have to link it to your bank first. You can choose from the different payment gateways that work with WooCommerce including Stripe.
If you are not using WooCommerce we are happy to help but will need some additional information. What are you using to setup your store?
Thank you,
John-Paul
JohnPaul BMemberHello Broni,
Thank you for contacting us about putting text on an image. There is no built-in tool for adding text to an image BoldGrid. But, you could download the image and add text with an image editor such as: Paint, PhotoShop, Gimp, etc.
Then, you could re-upload the image to your site.
Thank you,
John-Paul
December 7, 2017 at 2:42 pm in reply to: Where do I find the $parent_style value when creating a child theme? #23338JohnPaul BMemberHello Keith,
Thank you for your question about creating a child theme. We a great example of how to accomplish this with the Hydra theme in our guide on how to Create a Child Theme to Customize Your WordPress Website. In that example, you should be able to just replace the $parent_style value with ‘boldgrid-diced’.
Thank you,

December 7, 2017 at 12:19 pm in reply to: Does BG work with Zoho, WP Network, and have Medical Themes? #23334JohnPaul BMemberHello Chris,
Thank you for contacting us with your questions about Zoho, WP Network, and Medical Themes. Yes, BoldGrid should work with WP Network (Multisites). There are not any specific medical themes in BoldGrid at this time, but there are many themes that can be customized with the BoldGrid editor to suit your needs. BoldGrid includes WPForms for creating custom forms, which should work with any host. We would need more information on the specific Zoho product/services/plugins you are using to provide a more detailed answer.
Thank you,
John-Paul
December 7, 2017 at 9:34 am in reply to: I was unable to customize my pages after updating to WordPress version 4.9.1 #23347JohnPaul BMemberWe spent quite some time testing this with the Cobalt theme, and are not experiencing any issues. I recommend Displaying and Logging PHP Errors, Warnings, and Notices on your site. This may provide a more specific error message. Also try disabling any 3rd party plugins, except for BoldGrid. This will rule out if the issue is being caused by a plugin conflict.
Thank you,
John-Paul
November 29, 2017 at 8:39 am in reply to: Do you have a “blank” template where I can drop in: Columns, Rows, Headers, Sliders, Text, Photos, etc. without having to choose from too many pre-made blocks? #23379JohnPaul BMemberIf you have knowledge of PHP, HTML and CSS, a child theme can be used to do things like customize your page, header and footer templates, add additional widget areas or sidebars, and much more. We have a helpful guide that will explain the basics of creating a child theme. Also, on the BoldGrid Documentation page you will find detailed information about various aspects of the BoldGrid system. When installing your second “Inspiration” it will give you the options to “Keep my existing website available for visitors and make this new inspiration a Staged Website” or “Make this new inspiration my Staging Site.”
You will then be able to go to “Customize” and choose the “Active Site” or “Staged Site.”

JohnPaul BMemberHello Rich,
Thank you for contacting us about issues editing pages. Since WordPress was updated to 4.9 recently, we have also released BoldGrid updates for 4.9. Ensure you have updated your BoldGrid plugins and WordPress to the latest versions.
If your problems persist, try disabling any 3rd party plugins other than BoldGrid. Also, as a test, try going through the Inspiration process again. For example, see if you can set up a staging site.
Thank you,
John-Paul
JohnPaul BMemberHello Aubri,
Thank you for contacting us about using a Google Conversion code. There is not a tool included in BoldGrid for setting up your Google Tracking/Conversion code. But, since it is powered by WordPress there are many plugins available for adding and managing Google tracking. Here is a helpful link to a list of available plugins:

JohnPaul BMemberHello se.rose,
Thank you for contacting us about issues updating your Email address in WPForms. It is set to send to the “admin email” by default, but should allow you to update the address as described in our guide. In our tests, the emails are being sent successfully to the address we added. Ensure you are saving the changes after adding your email address. Check your email logs at the time of your submissions for errors or forwarders. Try disabling your 3rd party plugins except for BoldGrid/WPForms, to see if one is interfering.
Can you provide a link to the form for us to test?
Thank you,
John-Paul
JohnPaul BMemberThe two lines I provided will only display the errors, you can log them by adding the following to your wp-config.php file:
define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true );
define( ‘WP_DEBUG_LOG’, true );This will log all errors to a debug.log file in the /wp-content folder. All this information is from the official WordPress Codex on “Debugging in WordPress” here: https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress
Thank you,John-Paul
JohnPaul BMemberHello Action Hosting,
Thank you for contacting us about broken Customizer issues after updating to WordPress 4.9. Yes, this update introduced the “CodeMirror” option, which seems to have caused some CSS, and javascript issues. You can read more about the new features in the official WordPress 4.9 news post.
To address this, we have released BoldGrid updates for 4.9. We recommend updating your BoldGrid plugins to the latest version and it should resolve these issues.
Thank you,
John-Paul
JohnPaul BMemberHello SoulStealer6,
Thank you for contacting us about Memberpress conflict issues. Often, there is an error message being suppressed. I recommend enabling debug mode in WordPress by adding the following lines to the bottom of your wp-config.php file:
define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true );
define( ‘SCRIPT_DEBUG’, true );The first line will cause WordPress to display any errors caused by PHP functions that are built into WordPress. The second line will display any errors for built-in JavaScript and CSS. This should provide additional clues into what is happening.
You can also try disabling any other 3rd party plugins you may be running, as they can often interfere with each other.
Thank you,
John-Paul
