Unnecessary menu wrapping

paul king 6 years ago updated by arnelc 6 years ago 3

My site www.thecdc.nz is exhibiting odd wrapping behaviour of the top level menu on the home page.

The home page viewed on a desktop PC with Chrome browser set to full width of monitor, shows no wrapping of menu, whereas the same browser version on a laptop, with display resolution and DPI scaling identical to the desktop PC, show the last menu item wrapping down to next line, even though there is visibly ample empty space to the right where that menu item could fit.

Could it be some defect in a CSS screen measurement algorithm is somehow factoring the physical dimensions of the respective displays when it comes to calculating responsive behaviour, rather than using the actual screen resolution and DPI scaling?

At the end of the day, whatever the cause,  how do I keep the menu to a single line if there is visibly enough space to do so?  What css should I add in the custom css area of the theme? (I am using BoldGrid Calloway theme).

Unfortunately, I don't know css.  Have tried poking around with Chrome 'Inspect'  function around the menu area, but have not found anything obvious to change that generates a useful result.

Any help most appreciated!

I am no longer able to insert buttons correctly into my pages

Test Monkey 6 years ago updated by arnelc 6 years ago 9

I have been trying to get this resolved since BG was updated last year.

I can insert a button in the general vicinity of where my curser is but not where I want it precisely. If you go to this page you will see that all of the buttons are aligned and touching each other. I tried to insert a new button (11/22/2018) before the button 11/15/2018. Before your recent updates, the new button would have appeared as the first button in the series ..on the left next to the 11/15/2018 button. All the other buttons would move one button back. Now when I attempted to add the 11/22/2018 button, I can only get it above the 11/15.2018 button. I do this every week I would like to be able to do what I did before.
Please let me know if you need me to do anything else, I would be happy to test as soon as you are done. Just let me know.

Sorry about that, James. The workflow may have to change:

  1. Click the Add Component Block "+" icon at the top center of the editing screen
  2. Drag the Button design under Design where you need it
  3. Customize it as needed

I hope this helps.

Subheading Function Not Working

Ric K. 6 years ago updated by jacqueems 6 years ago 1

In the Customize menu there is a selection for the headings font and another setting for the subheading font.  According to the Boldgrid page, https://www.boldgrid.com/support/boldgrid-easy-seo/introduction-to-seo-content-and-structure/ the header font should be H1 and all other  H2, H3, etc. headings are subheaders.  The problem is that the header font is applied to all of the "H" tags (H1, H2, H3, H4).  The subheader setting has no influence at all.

How can I remove the hyphens from an image gallery caption?

LMuller 6 years ago updated 6 years ago 2

I added a slide show. I figured out how to add images and resize them. I can add captions and the captions can be edited but the style cannot. I've tried searching everywhere to find the setting in the CSS to modify, and can't figure out the location. I tried customizing with the CSS customizer, but I apparently am doing something very wrong.
